After a difficult trip in from the airport the night before and so-so dinner elsewhere, this little diner "reset" our long weekend in the city to the fun and delicious place we like to visit by providing wonderful breakfasts (we liked so much we went two days). Proprietor and staff/family fun to chat with. Best free show in town if... More

Always feels like home when I leave smelling like a big fat juicy cheeseburger deluxe with extra crispy fries and extra pickles. Sometimes, I dream about my burger....whether turkey or beef....and always terrific. If you are alone - feel free to chat up the staff as they speak a myriad of languages. Don't try to sit at a booth if... More

It's a cozy, narrow, vintage cafeteria style joint. The owner himself oversees the place and interacts with customers. The chefs take your order at the counter but there are son waiters to serve you in the "couples" tables. Burgers, fries and freshly squeezed juices are the main meals. But you can also have your breakfast for lunch as I saw... More

Loved it! Quick service, limited seating, quality food, and great atmosphere. Bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll with a coffee. Classic!

Our favorite coffee shop across the street from Barneys. Very tiny with 2 seater booths and a counter space with old fashioned stools. Great hamburgers, tuna melts and shakes1

Straight out of a TV comedy, this is your classic NYC diner. Their sandwiches are great - pastrami, corned beef. Most recently, I wanted to eat healthier, and their greek salad with grilled chicken, was great too!

My doctor's office is in the neighborhood, and I stopped by for coffee a second time. It's surprising that the coffee isn't better in such a fancy neighborhood, but there you are. Limited seating in this hole in the wall. But if you need a cuppa as you enjoy Madison Avenue, take out works pretty well. There is a limited... More

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
