Our hotel concierge recommended this restaurant on our recent trip to NYC. We were interested in a light tapas dinner and Solera turned out to be a gem. We had the tortilla, piquillo peppers with jamon serrano and empanada. All were authentic and delicious. The service was excellent. I would return to this restaurant.

Very nice. My husband and I tried this restaurant while we were visiting New York from Virginia. The staff was friendly and helpful. the restaurant was completely empty except for one other couple. It was a holiday weekend, so it seems everyone had left town. The food was very good, although not exceptional.

We were staying at a near by hotel and went walking, looking for a restaurant. We didn't have any particular cuisine in mind, but had experienced a hard day and wanted to be taken care of. Solera was perfect. It was quiet, and friendly. The service was attentive and I completely enjoyed my lamb chops and its accompanying vegetables. My... More

I live near by and am always looking for a good place to go. The place is spacious bar and bar tables in from dining room for about 60 with vaulted barrel ceiling in the back. We had lamb chops and pork bellies. very well done good service. The bill was less than $100 with two drinks.

Creative menu of tapas and main dishes. You can carry on a conversation in this pleasantly-decorated restaurant. The service is unobtrusive and efficient and the menu is varied and interesting.

We went hoping to find a snugly Spanish wine bar, but found a small, well-lit restaurant, with a limited and uninventive tapas menu. The olives served as we were seated were good, but the bread was stale. However, their selection of Spanish wines and sherries by- the-glass was excellent. We ended up ordering Spanish cheeses and charcuterie, and trying several... More

With such an inviting tapas menu we passed on the entrees even though they looked very inviting. The decision was rewarded with a terrific selection of garlic shrimp, ham croquettes, chorizos, and shrimp empanadas accompanied with a dry white spanish wine. Finishing off the evening with a quartet of desserts including flan, ice-cream, cremebule and pastry. The service was attentive... More

The vegetable and rice was nasty. The drinks were nasty and the cookies they give you at the end were stale and hard. Actually the vegetable and rice is called vegetales on saffron sofrito rice. Don't get it.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
