Absolutely loved the authentic cosy atmosphere of this traditional family run Italian restaurant. We a delightful waitress who bought us a couple of tasters of wine before we made our choice. The family recipe tagliatelli Ragu was great and the daily special tagliatelli with shrimp and a light sauce with the fresh taste of lemon zest! We will return!

I loved this restaurant. The atmosphere was wonderful. The quality of the food and wine was great. It is authentic Italian cuisine. Also, the service was excellent. There was a lot of international folks there which gave it a worldly feel. I can't wait to go back. Please beware that they are cash only. However, the food is an excellent... More

Long story short. If you would like to eat at a true Italian restaurant in NY, Via Della Pace is the place. The food is just unbelievable (pasta carbonara highly adviced) and, above all, authentic!!! Pure quality...

Brought my teenage daughter to NYC and found this quaint restaurant after getting lost getting back to our AirBnB in East Village (awesome location) and overheard a guy while walking by talking about craving their food and wanting to get back there. It's in an adorable brownstone with gentle lighting and aromas of Italy. Of course, my daughter fell in... More

Most awesome and cozy restaurant I have been to in a while. The atmosphere was festive and the food good. The restaurant is owner run and the service was attentive and efficient. Would definitely return.

Food was descent, and came out within reasonable time. But old facilities, chair is horrible, table wobble, and layout was very cramped up that makes experience uncomfortable overall. Table was unstable that I worried it would just break. You can barely move your arms when you eat because you are seated so close to other people. We were spending time... More

We're really sorry to hear that you experience at VDP was not good. But first of all, about the decor, if it looks old is exactly because we wanted to keep the vibe of the typic Italian Hosteria and if the restaurant was overbusy that means something of course. Second point nobody here wants to kick anybody outside, we just have... More

Had a great dinner last night. Emilianna bruschetta was ok. Tuna tartare was pretty good and delightfully light. The lobster ravioli and lasagna was the best we ever had. The waitress appeared to be the only waitress working the entire restaurant and was overwhelmed. Need 2 wait staff during busy times. Would go again but during off peak times.

...that is always busy. Reservations are being honoured so its best to book ahead if you can. It is very noisy inside due to the loud music played and everyone raising their voice to be understood. There was a mixed crowd on our visit, families, young and old all squeezed in to the small dining room. You could see in... More

You are definitely right unfortunately our restaurant is very small and most of the time is noisy but is almost a good reproduction of Italy and the Italians. We are very aware tha is not always good but at the same time makes us very authentic. Thank you very much for spending some time to leave us a review. We... More

Arrived in New York from Paris and found this local family run Italian in the area we were staying by pure chance. But what a wonderful find. Great food and ambiance. Cosy, noisy and fun all at the same time ! We loved it and drank and ate until the wee hours.

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
