We were looking for a place that was open late for drinks and dessert and this fit the bill. The service was amazing and they had great cappuccino. I would like to go back for breakfast on a future visit. It was still busy and serving food at 11:30 PM so that is a good sign.

Interesting neighborhood - friendly and welcoming. Our steak - cooked just the way we wanted it. Perfect for a night-ender with wine and great company.

If you are looking for a place to have a nice meal in quiet and not donate a kidney to pay for it french roast is the place....They do fish very well, If they have trout on the menu, make sure to get it. 2 appetizers, 2... I literally fell into this restaurant at the end of each of three exhausting days. The staff were lovely and I was able to sit outside and quietly observe the world go by and enjoy a very pleasant dinner and a glass of wine.

If it was meant to be French Roast Coffee then sadly the management missed the point. When the French serve coffee, if it's not served iced then it's served hot, not tepid. The cheese plate was served cold, though grape plate would have been a better description. The Salmon Cake special was presented nicely with a sort of sunflower design... More

I loved this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Our group was ready to get away from the more touristy areas of New York and we found this restaurant while walking and exploring. Breakfast is served all day which is a plus with me.

Always love this place for brunch. on this visit I had the burger for the first time. It is on a bun that has been made into French toast and comes with bacon and a fried egg on top. It may sound odd, but it is absolutely delicious.

What more can I say? Ideal location and the food was very good, only downside was we were a large sized group and we were put upstairs away from the main 'buzz' manager came up to welcome us and all staff were very pleasant. Taxi ride back to the hotel was an experience, we'll just call it techno 😊 Probably... More

The is one of our favorite Brunch Spots of all time! My husband and I have been going to French Roast for years! The Croque Madame and Eggs Benedict with Mochas and fresh squeezed orange juice are a must TRY.

Staying in Greenwich Village

Neighbourhood Profile
Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.
