Overall, the quality of fresh pastry should be more or less consistent across Le Pain Quotidian locations. However, the baked goods at this location are fresher and better quality than at another location-77 and 2nd ave.

The three of us stopped before heading to the museum. I had the butternut squash soup which was not creamy, and I really liked its simplicity. My husband had the chicken soup and it was packed with chicken. My sons open face tuna with hummus looked so fresh and he liked it. Seating is a bit rustic and homey.

We went here for lunch on a Saturday: pretty crowded with locals and few tourists. Like others in the chain, they serve a variety of healthy foods (salads, etc.) as well as breakfast-type food. Service was OK.

Enjoyed two breakfasts here on a recent NYC trip; baked eggs were the favorite; good pastries and French-style hot chocolate; good service; would love to return

It is a beautiful space with a long wooden communal table surrounded by tables and chairs seating either two or four. The French pastries and bread are delicious and the coffee was full bodied without bitterness. Unfortunately, for most of our brunch, one waiter was handling about ten tables. While he eventually got some help, most of the customers waited... More

I had a very good chopped Cobb salad for lunch. It was on the expensive side, about $16, but was really enough for two people. Plus salads at other restaurants on the Upper East Side were going for $26. The salad comes with two slices of homemade bread. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Overall it was an enjoyable... More

We had breakfast here most morning because the food was delicious. The guacamole toast, Brown rice pudding, eggs, waffles and hot drinks were perfect. Pricing isn't too bad and the service is excellent.

We had one coffee and one tea and paid $15 including the tip. The restaurant is lots of fun to visit and food, specially breakfast is very good. However, prices are becoming very expensive.

I keep going back to this restaurant from time to time, as I live in the neighborhood, and keep hoping it will change. But no. Yesterday went there, and ordered their "stew" for lunch, which was on the specials' list. The waitress said it was like a chicken fricassee. Essentially what came was a bowl of thick chicken soup, served... More

A very reliable, ok-priced and enjoyable restaurant chain. We like much on their menu (goats cheese salad, avocado toast, cheese board, their pastries). Somewhere we look out for around the world.

Staying in Upper East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Upper East Side
Combining quiet residential neighbourhoods that have easy access to Central Park with world-famous cultural institutions, the Upper East Side is one of the most livable places in the city. Along beautiful Fifth Avenue, you’ll find Museum Mile, which houses many of the nation's most famous attractions in a single stretch, like The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Walk a few blocks into the neighbourhood, and you’ll come to Park Avenue, the poshest address in the city, lined with grand apartment buildings as far as the eye can see. Even if you can’t afford the luxury goods along Madison Avenue, it’s still a great spot to window shop an afternoon away.
