I happened upon this place whilst walking through the neighbourhood one day. The baked goods are quite good and it boasts a nice sitting area as well to take a few minutes to rest your feet exploring NYCs funky downtown area.

On Tripadvisor the address is incorrect. The correct address is 8 Stuyvesant St. About a 10 min walk from the address that's posted here

Went here hoping to try the ever-famous Green Tea Tiramisu, but apparently every one was wanting it that day, because they sold out just before I got there. Ordered the Green Tea Cookie instead, and I wasn't disappointed. It was the perfect mix of sweet and satisfying. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside - I'm sure they do... More

Panya has been around for many years, originally serving sandwiches and sweet pastries. It has expanded and now offers an array of items. In the refrigerated section you can choose from very reasonably priced sandwiches, sushi rolls, to delicious Salmon Bento boxes $5.95(a steal); The Box contains a perfectly cooked a Salmon Steak over brown or white rice, side salad... I love the an pan, and the bentos are great to-gos. I never got so many envious glances as when I took their bentos to eat at the Met during intermissions. Yum!

I sometimes come here while I wait for my sister who works nearby. They have bentos, sandwiches, onigiris, breads, pastries, salads, maki, etc. You can order hot items, too, like donburis & noodles. My fave things to get are yuzu iced tea, azuki bun, melon pan, curry pan & onigiri. It's a cute place & the staff is nice.

We had visited on a Friday night at 8 PM. According to reviews I have read, the green tea tiramisu was something to try out. However, they were all out at this point. I got a cold Yuzu tea and a slice of Strawberry Shortcake. The place is pretty small and so all the seats were full. It was raining... More

Nice place to grab run-and-go breakfast to subway or to work. Cheap decent coffee. The sandwich selection can get mundane. Sometimes the service can be good but at times. the cashier girl can make you red in the face. I think she quit though. Oh forgot. Affordable tasty Japanese whole cake available there. Even I can savor its deliciousness.
