Taken here by old friends who live in the neighborhood and it is a gem. Highly recommend the eggplant and fish, and just about any dish.

We had a large party on Christmas Eve and got very good service and many first rate dishes. There were several Chinese families dining there which in my mind confirms the authenticity of the food. We are looking forward to our return.

This restaurant serves excellent Chinese food. Too bad service is lacking. There were four of us and we ordered Hot and Sour Soup, steamed whole sea bass, walnut prawns, eggplant in garlic sauce, boiled sliced beef in hot and spicy chili sauce, and baby bok choy with mushrooms. While the dishes were delicious, it took forever (over 45 minutes and... More

Finally, a nearby Chinese restaurant I'm not embarrassed to take my parents on the UWS! When my mom with discriminating tastes (not to mention she was born in Szechuan) took her first bite and gushed, "MMMM!" with her eyebrows raised, I knew this would be a regular place from where to order when they visited. Their Ma-Po Tofu is the... More

When I was fifteen years old (many moons ago) the family of a guy I was dating in high school introduced me to Schezuan cuisine at Empire Schezuan which was located at Broadway & 97th Street for decades. My world shifted a bit that day and I ate at that restaurant for decades. I moved to the DC metro area... More

We ate dinner there recently with friends (who have two young kids) as they are regulars. We didn't know what to expect, but we were very impressed with the quality and tastes of each dish. Portion sizes were decent. A very comprehensive menu that covers different styles of Chinese cuisine. Their happy hour goes to 8 pm and the wine... More

There was a time, decades ago, when good Chinese restaurants were ubiquitous but no more. And then, to my great surprise, I find this terrific place. We had terrific and spicy Szechuan dumplings in chili sauce and cellophane noodles & pork in a spicy sauce and domed duck slices & leeks. Decor is clean & plain but attractive, staff were... More

We were very pleased to find a decent Chinese restaurant in the vast wasteland of Upper West Side Asian restaurants. The food is fresh and well prepared - most especially those dishes on the two Sichuan areas of the menu. It's a good choice for takeout but eat-in is entirely different. We arrived at 9:00PM one Saturday evening and we... More

We come to Legend 72 on weekends all the time. Their menu has food from Dim Sum to Hot Pot, and we pretty much has tried about one third of those on the menu. So far everything is good, some are very good, several are excellent. Tea-smoked duck is delicious. Stir-fried pork with rice crust is tasty and fun.

Not that easy to find a good and authentic Chinese restaurant with friendly service in NYC and yes, I'm Chinese. Their Sichuan menu is really quite good and extensive, and price is very reasonable for the location. It's a wonderful place for a big gathering, as we were able to use the whole rear and rather private section of the... More
