Had a late lunch to celebrate a birthday. This is a special occasion restaurant (meaning expensive). The room is stark, relieved by the view of the sculpture garden. The service is exceptional (tipping included). And they do iron the tablecloths between lunch and dinner. The food was sublime - especially and cauliflower and lobster appetizers, beef with marrow. We had champagne and sauterne... More

We had dinner here on the occasion of my birthday here. Something that did not go unnoticed with the staff. We went for the 4 course dinner and asked for a wine pairing. Each course was really delicious and the wines selected by the sommelier were spot on. Started with a foie gras tart, followed by sea bass. Main course... More

I always have quite the appetite once I've arrived here...usually after perusing the art a bit. The servings tend to be quite small. The drinks are rather expensive even for NYC. It's still a great place to see and be seen, hence the four stars.

Plenty of space .. Exellent service ..a well thought out menu so it is not unsurprisingly worthy of its 2 Michelin Stars! You do not leave hungry .. If you visit .. You must not be rushed.. Budget the time to savour all The Modern has to offer

A perfect lunch experience - was having a MOMA day and this was a great interlude between exhibitions - a wonderful open spacious atmosphere with light looking onto the courtyard made for a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. Professional and friendly service with a wonderful menu - expensive yes, but worth it.

Wonderful discovery. Extremely professional and friendly staff. State of the Art. Excellent food, original and very tasty, very good pairing with wine. We came back a second time with friends simply to share and repeat an amazing experience.

More than a museum cafe: The Modern is attached to Museum of Modern Art but also has an unpretentious street entrance. A couple of years earlier we came in off the street mid-afternoon just looking for a nice place to sit down, not realizing the museum connection. After the long corridor, we saw what we got into and were delighted.... More

My husband and I visited this restaurant on our last night in New York before flying back to Australia. We were delighted with the exceptional hospitality and service both at the bar and at the table. The food tasted just as good as it looked with the flavours being well balanced. I would suggest leaving room for desserts! It was... More

The restaurant looks out to the sculpture garden of the MOMA. Service is friendly and efficient and the food was at two star level. Breads were not. There was a long wait between dishes. Portions were quite small.

As a British tourist in NYC, the tip culture is a bit alien to me & takes a while to adjust to. This is especially the case given the best service we received on our trip, we didn't have to pay for at The Modern. We ordered off the a la carte menu at lunchtime and the food was sublime.... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
