I have eaten here half a dozen times over a few years. The food has always been excellent, as it was this time. The shellfish and seafood, was outstanding. But the place was half empty and a different type of crowd was - (the holiday season, what is going on, couldn't put my finger on it?) It lacked the normal... More

French-inspired modern cuisine really works. The service was attentive but not stuffy at all. In fact the place is distinctly mid town but in an open airy way without being too fancy. One drawback is that there are a number of dining tables set up right by the bar - but there not bar tables. Be sure to request a... More

We had lunch with friends. The potato chips with warm blue cheese was a great way to start the meal. The burgers are big and delicious. Don't miss the Lobster and Avocado appetizer. Always my favorite

It's been several years since I visited Bar Americain and glad to see the service, venue and food are still excellent. I enjoyed the chicken salad while my colleague loved the chicken pot pie.

I had high hopes visiting Bar Americain since I've been to Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill in Las Vegas. Bar Americain is 180 degrees opposite in terms of food quality and delivery. First, the good. The wait staff was attentive and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. I would expect nothing less from Mr. Flay. It's the food and preparation that were... More

This was the most expensive restaurant during our stay in NY. My wife is a big Bobby Flay fan and his recipes didn't disappoint. My daughter said the greens she had with her fried chicken was the best thing she has ever eaten, and my wife, who's protein was lamb, said that her overall meal was the best she ever... More

We went here before a play and the meal was so disappointing. The Chicken sandwich was served cold. My Mushroom and Cheese crepe was also lukewarm and had lots of cheese and very few mushrooms-- almost inedible. The only meal that was good were the mussels.

We had been excited about having dinner here after the theater. The reservation was ready, the place looked nice, although we were near the revolving door so it was a chilly spot. The service was slow but the meal came out minutes after the appetizers. We watch Beat Bobby Flay all the time. KFC could beat Bobby's fried chicken. It... More

Could just have been that I watched Bobby Flay cook a ribeye on iron chef once and he called it a southwestern style and I just had to have one at some point. Since Bobby is most definitely outside my price range for a private hire personal chef for a night I opted for Bar Americain! I'm not going to... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
