Went with a goup, had a priavte room, and allowed the waiter to pick the food based upon a per person price. We had about 7 courses, mostly fish (including shell fish) with one course of beef. Can't comment on ambiance as we were in private room. Place was almost full with many tourists--quite a few that may have been... More

When I read the menu for this spot I was full of hope that had stumbled onto a real find. Sadly this turned out not to be the case. While the food was generally competently prepared both it and the service was lacking the inspiration I was hoping for. The prices were quite high for what I received, the garnishes... More

We sat at the eating bar right by the grill area, and the view was almost as good as the food. We had a good mix of sashimi, grilled fish, grilled asparagus, salad and some shrimp. Overall, really good, fun time. Seating next to the grill may not be for everyone, and there are alternative seating arrangements available. The area... More

The blue fin tuna tartare was unbelievable. The sashimi was perfection. The grilled bbq grilles shoulder was scrumptious. Loved the ambience - very Japanese-inspired - with private dining rooms, very cozy, yet very chic. The service was excellent, with great recommendations on sake. Final tip: Check out bathrooms.

I had a great lunch at A.K. In a neighborhood where the options are sometimes a little less than exciting, this was just great. The prix fixe lunch included sashimi, grilled steak, and other yummy authentic Japanese treats. And the sake menu (I like mine cold) was very, very impressive. My colleague who knows Japan better than I do, absolutely... More

Woooowww. I was invited to a dinner at this "hideaway" little Japanese restaurant on the East side of 45th Street. On approach it looks nothing and once down the stairs it turns into a small labyrynth of cozy, private dining rooms.....still looks nothing. Then comes the service....the attention to the customer is focussed on delivering a memorable, Japanese, gastronomic feast.... More

Great location, ambience, and food. Have always tried the lunch at the bar and always enjoy the authentic Japanese style of serving at the bar. Rolls are excellent and so are the lunch

I've been on a serious Japanese streak here and I'm not even trying. Just got to NY for a short trip and got here a day early so did a quick search for a restaurant near by. I'm staying at the Royalton, great hotel btw, and did a search on my zagat app. I actually had to scroll past a... More

Go here if you want a totally different Japanese dining experience! Loved how different it was. (Didn't love how high my bf's bill was...ha!) But worth it to go once for the tasting experience. Homemade tofu with 3 flavored salts - delicious and I'm not a huge fan of tofu. Shrimp on sizzling platter with asparagus- this would have been... More

We enjoy our dining experience. We set a budget ie.$80 per person and let our server arranges for the courses. The food is great with combination of sushi, sashimi, grill, tofu, etc. We all are happy and satisfied with the recommendation. The decor and atmosphere are not sophisticated, and your clothes do get smelly after the meal because of the... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
