If you are on a restricted diet this place is fun! Thankful it exists. My son ate a donut and a cupcake that we saved for after dinner! These treats are sweet. When you loose wheat, dairy, eggs other things must be added so sugar it is!

The best donuts of Manhattan, words of my "gluten" friends. Newyorkers cakes all gluten free, all delicious

If you require gluten free and miss having a sweet treat every now and then, I highly recommend Erin McKenna's Bakery. I tried the vanilla cupcake- absolutely delicious, and the choc-chip cookie which was divine. The store is easily accessible via the subway and a short (5 minutes or less walk)

Wanted to try a "healthier" sweet option on our vacation and we found a good one! Off the beaten path in little Italy we really enjoyed our desserts. Donuts! Yum! And chocolate chip cookie sandwich was delish too. Frosted banana bread was our least favorite of the three desserts but still decent. Worth the trip!

My son is severely allergic to all dairy and tree nuts, and the only time he had ever eaten at a bakery was at Babycakes at DisneyWorld. This is the NYC location of that bakery so we took a special trip via the subway and let him order whatever he wanted! The bakery staff were very knowledgeable and helpful when... More

I have been wanting some Gluten free donuts and could not find a decent one anywhere. These were delicious! I also loved the mocha brownie cupcake. Top notch ingredients and yummy taste!

Not even sure if this is Baby Cakes anymore. If so it was a bit of a letdown. Super small place.Amy & Grisel were nice. We got there late and as I expected they were out of most everything. We got the eclair and thin mint cookie, I told you there were slim pickins. The Thin mint was better than... More

We made a special trip to get some gluten free goods for the kids (and for me let's be honest). It is most certainly not worth a special trip. The majority of treats we ended up with were completely overly sweetened. A sugar drip. Sticky. I tossed a bunch out. The only edible things were the donut holes. I would... More

Stopped in after a visit to the Tenement Museum around the corner. Delicious cinnamon rolls! Not cheap, but a great option for GF folks for a treat.

I'll be honest, this bakery is everything I hope and dream of for my baked goods! Everywhere I travel I look for gluten free and vegan bakeries because where I live we have basically no options. After trying bakeries all over the world, I have found no where that compares in the taste, selection or quality of this place! I... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
