Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great food, awesome atmosphere. Irish Pub dropped right in downtown Bethlehem. Staff was awesome. Fish and Chips were exactly like when we had them in Ireland. If you like wings for an appetizer, have to try them! Had the Down East Pomegranate cider...Keep up the...great work!More

I happened to visit twice over a 3-day period; once for lunch and once for dinner. Both meals were enjoyable. For lunch, my wife and I had soup and the lamb stew. The soup was very good and the stew was outstanding. Washed our lunch...down with a pint of Harp lager. For dessert, we shared the scone pudding which was very tasty. For dinner we visited with another couple for our annual Christmas get together. We were fortunate to garner an enclosed booth which made our dinner more enjoyable and private. We ordered various items off the menu. My wife ordered the lamb stew and I ordered the cottage pie (shepherd pie). I complemented my meal with a pint of Guinness (stout). Our dinner companions ordered other items off the menu and enjoyed their meals as well. The pub has an extensive whiskey menu for its patrons to enjoy. Alas, my wife for I am not a whiskey drinker however our dinner companions enjoyed a dram each. Overall, a festive atmosphere. excellent service and meal for a very reasonable price. Treat yourself when visiting the Christmas city.More

We popped in for a pint of Guiness. They knew how to pull one & included a freehand shamrock drawn in the foam. The serve wine but none of it was interesting enough to bother to drink. I don't know that I have ever been...in a place with such a large selection of whiskeys. They have a library complete with sliding stairs to enable the bartenders to access the rarer brands. The overall vibe is a classic Irish pub. There are adorable booths in private rooms near the entrance. Although the bathrooms are labeled by gender, they are really just 2 water closets & should be treated as such. The restaurant would do well to relabel the doors.More

Stopped in for dinner. I asked about gluten free menu before we were seated. The hostess showed me the menu that clearly showed gluten-free offerings. We were seated I informed the server I am gluten sensitive. She show me my option. I chose the marinated...grilled chicken with BBQ sauce my husband ordered the potato leek soup and the lamb stew. Shortly after we order the manager talked to us and assured me special care would be taken with my meal. The leek soup came with warm brown bread. Both our meals were excellent. The lamb stew serving was so large my husband took part of it home. The service was great and the food was wonderful.More

Katrina I’m glad you had a good experience and enjoyed thr food. The lamb stew is a family recipe from my mother in county Antrim in Northern Ireland. We hope to see you again soon.

We'd previously done breakfast at Mccarthy's and loved it. We returned to try their dinner service and my date and I soon fell ill after having eaten here.

I was so so unimpressed with this restaurant. Wow, the food couldn't have been worse. I had Beef on Weck. The beef was cold and slimy. The Weck was so insanely salty, it was intolerable. The dip was congealed and fake tasting. The fries were...soggy and lame. My son had pancakes. They were truly the worst pancakes we have ever had. The presentation of all the food was unappealing. My husband had tots with corned beef hash and an egg. There was maybe 3 tots in the huge bowl and little burnt batter pieces. No corned beef although they claimed the crunchy stringy things was the corned beef. Absolutely not. The egg was well done. We were with a large party and the rest of our table was not impressed either. 2 others got beef on a weck and theirs looked worse than mine. One was not eaten at all. She couldn't stomach how it looked. Another got a burger with RAW bacon on it. Yuck! I don't know if there was a new cook or what, but regardless I will never go back to this restaurant again! They did kindly remove one meal from our bill. My only regret is I didn't take pics of the food to post. Really awful!More

Stopped by a month ago for a quick lunch and was met with the usual tasty food, excellent draught beer and a lovely friendly vibe, The waitress was efficient and knowledgeable, bringing us taste tests of beers we were considering. The food was hot and...delicious, perfectly proportioned. While crowded the pub seemed cozy and relaxed, not too loud, and very enjoyable. Red Stag is your best bet on Main Street.More

Avoid this restaurant at any cost. We were there at 2:00 for lunch, no one dining in the restaurant (should have been first clue). We were there chatting until 4:15 and not one person came in to dine while we were there (second clue), there...were many workers just hanging around. A burger was ordered and it was dry and roll had hard crusty edges with stale taste. The chicken breast dishes were defrosted thick breasts not fully cooked, served with greasy string beans and mash potatoes with black bits from spoiled potatoes where spots weren’t cut off. The fried Fish sandwich was greasy with soggy French fries. The ONLY outstanding item was the aioli served with the fish. You’ll be very disappointed dining here.More

I think you are reviewing the wrong place - we do not ( nor have not) have a Fish Sandwich on our menu , and we don't make an aioli.

They will do "call ahead" seating one hour before you want your table, not before. So if you want a table for 6 pm, call them at 5 pm and let them know if you want one of the snugs or the patio.
