I have never had fresh tuna or any fish this good. I have also never been there when the wait wasn't at least 30 minutes. BUT - it is worth the wait. Be prepared that the tuna is the only thing on the menu and it is cash only. Still worth it.

We got in line and waited a long time not knowing what to expect. I made visited with a local lady while we waited. She comes to the Bowpicker often. When we ate our lunch we decided we should have gotten the bigger order and saved some for dinner. The Bowpicker is unique, fun and DELICIOUS! A perfect treat after... More

I like fish. In general I don't like fish and chips and I don't like fried foods. These fish and chip are not made with your typical "fishy" tasting fish. These are made with fresh caught albacore tuna. They are fantastically delicious! The breading is light and crispy. The portions are a great value and will leave you satisfied. Expect... More

Always a line here and for good reason. Fish and chips are delicious and location is perfect. Can eat on the grass or picnic tables there.

There are better fish and chips in town, but none are outdoors and near the Maritime Museum (making it the choice of tourists--hence the long line). If you think albacore is too heavy for fish and chips, this is not your place.

Wow! Great place for fish and chips! Excellent food at a very reasonable price. Quick and friendly service. It was raining so hard that we just grabbed our food and went back to our war and dry motel room. Highly recommend Bowpickers for some local catch of the day.

I brought my wife by for her 1st visit on a cool, cloudy day and she wasn't sure what to expect. We shared a full order with an extra filet and the look on her face was priceless when she tasted her first bite: surprise, extreme joy, and supreme satisfaction. The tuna filets are the perfect consistently and the batter... More

Wonderful albacore tuna fish and chips prepared and served from a bowpicker fishing boat. Yummy condiment options too! Many locals wait on those lines too so you know it's good. And if you strike up a conversation while on line, you'll hear some local lore to boot!

I was in Astoria on a freezing cold day last week and sought out the infamous Bowpicker. Fortunately, there were only two people ahead of me, making the wait only 5 minutes. The fish was fresh, hot, and tasty. No complaints here. I'll order the 5 piece next time instead of the 3.
