I am a sushi lover and freak, and by far this is the best sushi in brookline. The superb service done by japanese and the guest are from diverse part of the world. Small and not pretentious setting but full of flavors and fresh fish.

This is a nice little restaurant that serves authentic Japanese dishes. My favorite was the seared Mackerel with grated daikon. Not a dish you see in most Japanese restaurants but it was delicious. Also enjoyed the Saki sampler: 4 sakis for $14, though the servings were a bit small. The place was packed on a Sunday night so service was... More

If you're craving Japanese food in the Boston area--for authenticity, taste, and variety --you must go to Shiki in Brookline's Coolidge Corner to find it! This small, Japanese run restaurant is located in basement on Babcock Street. It's not cheap, but not O-ya pricing either:) There is something for everyone on the menu--and it's delicious!

We happened to park in front, on our way to shop for shoes across the road. Small basement in a side road to Harvard St. It was lunch time, so I added a few quarters in the parking meter, and in we went. With not much in the way of expectations. We ordered two different Kaiseki menus, at $16 and... More

This has been the best service at a japanese restaurant that i have ever been to. The food quality, presentation and taste was impecable and delicious. We were served by a japanese server not a chinese one! the food menu was in japanese and english and it seemed a high end place that japanese would go to eat at. they... More

Shiki is a very good Japanese restaurant. The menu is quite extensive, ranging from vegetables to meats to seafood (including sushi and sashimi) to noodles and more. There were so many things I wanted to try, but I simply couldn't eat enough. I tried the takoyaki, ebi karaage, cold buckwheat noodles, sashimi, a squid maki roll, and the broiled chicken... More

We are not experts of japanese food but we really like it and this is a very good experience, with lots of interesting. super-fresh ingredients, beautifully presented. And with many taste sensations. I did not know one could pack so much flavor in a broth with one single clam!!! LOTs of types of sake too. The service... More

Whenever we are I'm Boston area, we stop here to have lunch. Each had kaiseki lunch - ume, take, matsu. Take set is served with miso soup; ume and matsu with small bowl of udon noodle. Fresh sashimi and oshizushi highly recommended.

Shiki is a funny beast. It's an izakaya in a town where all the food sophisticates are fakes who think sushi is all there is to Japanese cuisine, and get into arguments about which frozen fish sushi is fresher than the other. Shiki serves straight-up izakaya food, Tokyo-style, so there's a bit of sushi but mostly a lot of other... More

This is simply the best Japanese kitchen in town. Excellent food, fresh, well served. The luncheon special is to be tried; otherwise, anything from the kitchen is good.
