Zaftigs used to make a New York sized sandwich. Now I lift up the bread and ask "where's the meat?" Prices have gotten too high for me to go here for lunch anymore. Breakfast is enjoyable, however. We enjoy the mixed fish plate with bagel, one of the better values.

Over the years, we have had nothing but really good experiences at Zaftig's. It has always been on our "must do" list whenever we visit Boston. Our recent visit for lunch presented a few typical things, a long wait outside and very good service. Some not so typical things were overdone poached eggs and a corned beef hash that was... More

Zaftigs has for years provided an essential ingredient to Boston area dining -- a real deli, with a "New York" style and feel, and exceptionally good food. For many in the Boston-Brookline area, it provides a comfortable sense of coming home; a culinary connection to our youth; and darned good food. The comfort level is still there. But in two... More

This is a great place for a meal anytime of the day, but we were there for breakfast, and I thought the food was fantastic. They had a variety of unique dishes too (blintzes, knish, etc) The decor was great. Lots of colorful paintings on the walls.

Not many breakfast/brunch places to go so this place is generally heaving. They will give you a buzzer and you can wait outside or carry on shopping as long as you don't go out of range (2 blocks). Coffee is weak and perculated. On a plus side you do get endless top ups for free. Food is below average. Service... More

Good Service , Great Food, Nice Clean Tables, We had Brunch there. Lox & Eggs was Great, The Wifes Brisket was said to be Great, However the latkes were Not Crispy Enough, compared to my Gluten Free Organic Latkes.

My family and I came here for brunch and on the recommendation of my nephew. The food was great and the staff friendly. It was a little cramped, but overall the restaurant was nicely lit and clean.

Just like grandmas! We went like three times during our visit, ordered different dishes... all great... The only kosher meat is the hot dog

Stopped in for brunch. It was crowded and there was a 20 minute wait but it was well worth it! The service was quick, in spite of how busy they were. We had brunch - the eggs Benedict were delicious and perfectly cooked. My friends had banana stuffed French toast (incredible! ) an omelette that was also great, and the... More

If you are not a foodie you will really like this place for its ambience, staff, and large menu. I grew up in Brookline and went here regularly. It's always been slightly above average. But now that I live in NYC and understand food...well... let's just say you'll never really quench your more nuanced cravings coming here. The meat isn't... More
