The "e" is pronounced on the end, we are glad that we ended up here for Sunday Brunch. We tried to go to Mercantile around the corner but couldn't wait 90 minutes for a table for 2 at noon. We were seated right away and...More

While traveling north, we needed a stop for lunch off I95. Read about FOODE in Fredicksburg, VA. It was perfect! Housed on a 200 year old bank, with an interesting history, we were treated to a delicious and reasonable lunch. They had a $10 menu...More

Excellent food and wonderful service. Located in what used to be a bank in the 1800’s. If they have the fried chicken skins, I strongly suggest you order them!

Early dinner of fried oysters followed by a risotto with asparagus and bacon topped off with a chocolate mousse cake and a locally produced bourbon was exceptional in all respects. The restaurant is located in a historic bank building, with seating available in the old...More

Converted bank building-you can even dine in the old vault. They have added noise deadening panels over the bar and around the ceiling light fixtures to create a more intimate dining experience with a great mix of fine and casual dining. Come as you are-shorts...More

Questions & Answers
We were there on Saturday July 1st around 6:pm for dinner. We were a party of 7. It was a new menu.Seems as if the menu has completely changed. A member of our group ordered the 'porterhouse' from the menu thinking it was porterhouse as in steak, When the food was brought to the table the server said 'pork chop' and we stated that no one ordered a pork chop. It was sent back to the kitchen and a few minutes later brought back out and said that that was the porterhouse. After a few bites the member of our party realized it was pork and not beef. He does not eat pork due to religious convictions. He traded with another member of our party who had ordered fish. After dinner the member of our group could not finish her meal of pork so asked to have it in a doggy bag. All plates were removed and a 'go home' container was delivered to the table but minus the left over pork. We mentioned it to our server and she went to check and returned saying the plate had been put in the trash. We also mentioned to our server about the wording of the menu that indicated 'porterhouse' but no mention of pork. I think the majority of people believe porterhouse to be an indication of beef. THE MENU SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEARER! we were given a 20% off the 'porterhouse' meal because the left over had been trashed. New building, new menu, not the good old FOODE.

They are a local independent restaurant and I would call them. I assume they would be able to take your credit card information over the phone and mail a gift certificate to you or directly to your recipient. 540-479-1370
