Everything you expect in an Irish pub, friendly service cold beers and some great grub. The menu had a nice assortment. My wife had a crab cake sandwich and loved it. I had the burger special with fries on a Sunday for $6. Excellent and the fries were hot and crispy. Only $6. Two pints and we were in heaven.... More

Recommended by a local and was fabulous. Food is good, place is well maintained and the service fast and friendly. Best of all it's not a chain but a place that is cared for by the people who work there.

After taking the battlefield tour and reading about the role played by the Irish Brigade during the civil war we were in the mood for some good Irish fare. We saw this resturant and decided to give it a try. The building and decor are nothing special but the food is wonderful! The service was good and it looked like... More

Brought two out of town friends here for lunch. I had not been before, but thought we would give it a try. Got seated and was greeted by a very friendly young man. He took our drink orders, returned promptly with them and took our orders. Food took a reasonable amount of time to come out. I had the Brigade... More

I've been going to the Colonial for around seven years. It's a great place to have a pint and enjoy local entertainment on weekends. I personally like the ambiance; it's a neat old building. The food is reasonably good, if wholly predictable for an "Irish" pub. Good, if not spectacular, beer selection. If you're looking for a good place to... More

My wife and I found this restaurant next to the commuter train station. It didn't look like much from the outside but the food was great! It offers many beer selections and a good Irish menu with American foods included. My wife had a chocolate attack and asked Sarah what was good. She brought a piece of marble cake......with whipped... More

I'll be honest, I started having second thoughts. We sat at a hi-top back by the bar with our iced tea and soda after placing our lunch order and stared at each other for what seemed like a long time when suddenly our waitress came out with one soda roll and a container of berry combination butter. That roll and... More

Stopped here on the way back from SC. Food was very good. Lots of reasonably priced food and beer options. We had the Shepard's pie and the Chicken Pot pie. Large casserole portions of each. Very, very old pub. Formica on tabletops was green and scratched, dusty curtains and place could use a good cleaning. However, there is an outside... More

We dined here 2 years ago and when we talked about returning to Fredericksburg my husband said we need to go back to the Tavern. We went on Saturday & Sunday night as well. We were trying to remember what we had the first time. The ethnic foods are offered as well as some American faves. The menu changed a little... More

Good food, but the service sucks, our server was in a drunk like state, and there was only one waitress. There is live music but it's kind of loud. Food was good and hot though, if you're looking for an obove average diner place, this is great. Our soups came out during the main course when we ordered it for... More
