We actually stayed at the Inn and did eat all our meals there. This is a James Beard award winning dining experience. Turns out other lodges send their guests there and the locals also eat there often. Great experience.

Gustavus is a quirky off the beaten track community and is the gateway to Glacier Bay. For over 30 years, Dave and JoAnn Lesh have honed perfection at Gustavus Inn. Plan to be enchanted by the vegetable and flower garden before dinner. Then grab a beverage and enjoy appetizers at the bar or on the decks. Finally, I hope you... More

After sailing in Glacier Bay, we stopped in Gustavus overnight for dinner. The best part was the salad - an incredible eclectic mix of leaves and flowers from the remarkable vegetable garden (which in itself is instructional for budding gardeners). It was fantastic. The home baked bread was good too. The Hors d'ouvre was a soda bread with parmesan and... More

All meals were served family style and we enjoyed meeting new guests at each meal. The breakfast was huge with eggs, bacon, pancakes and homemade jellies. The produce was picked fresh from the garden and it was the only salad we ate in AK that didn't have brown leaves. Dinner included crab, halibut and salads.

We had an amazing dinner of bbq'd king salmon! We had kelp salsa for an appetizer. We were in awe of the garden and know that they take pride in their food and inn. It is family style seating so you can talk to others from all over the world. It was absolutely delicious and can't wait to go back... More

My wife and I had dinner here one night during our stay in Gustavus. They offered gravlax during the cocktail hour. Dinner was served family style and was delicious. The Dungeness crab was particularly good. Everyone we met was very friendly and we really enjoyed having dinner there.

We stayed elsewhere while in Gustavus, but were lucky enough to enjoy a fabulous meal of Ginger Sablefish at the Inn. The hosts served an amazing smoked salmon spread with fresh bread to complement pre-dinner wine and beers, then took care to seat everyone in convivial groups for dinner conversation. The meal was so delicious, from the freshly picked salad,... More

We stayed here as guests so we got to experience their incredible food for a couple of days. Family style dinner that features the local fish. Generous portions of veggies from their own garden. Everything is absolutely delicious.

Family style seating. Great food, especially using ingredients from the garden. Make sure you arrive early for the appetizers. If it's nice, sit outside before dinner. There's also a small art gallery near the restrooms.

I am the owner of Gustavus Inn. Our restaurant was named "America's Classic 2010" by the James Beard Foundation. Although we are a hotel, I thought we should appear in the Gustavus, Alaska restaurant listings. We serve dinner nightly to our hotel guests and if we have room, a few extras.

Our menus rotate during the week depending on guest preferences. There is only one entree, always seafood and garden bounty. Nightly we feature a foraged wild edible on the bar or table. Meat is served only to accommodate house guests by prior order. Since we prepare everything from scratch onsite, we can happily accommodate dietary restriction with advance notice. My suggestion for dining at the Gustavus Inn is to stay here for guaranteed reservations in the dining room.
