We love coming to Bali Asli whenever we are on Bali, such a great spot, lovely food and service. A credit to Penny to train and motivate her team and achieve/maintain high standards. Worth a visit and a great stopover when touring in the area.

My wife and I had the most amazing experience at Bali Asli on Christmas Day. It was one of the highlights of our honeymoon trip to Bali and I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling to Bali.

Well this food experience is hard to beat, Mt Agung in the near back ground reaching out to you will take your breath away. While you take some of the best scenic photos from your table or the huge balcony, the chefs will be preparing the tastiest authentic Balinese food you. The health drinks and home brewed fruit beers are... More

have come to this restaurant for lunch twice now since finding out about it. It is about a two hour drive from Ubud located near Mount Agung, the seating area is open and you are able to enjoy the breathe taking view while enjoying traditional Balinese food. The snake fruit soda drink is mouth watering and they have a selection... More

We always take friends here when visiting Bali and enjoy their positive/amazed reactions to the view and building. Delicious welcome drink and crackers with sambals to start and the the fixed menu, vegetarian options available, all was delicious, except for one of the party's experience with the homemade ginger beer.

Wow. I am so glad we made time to eat here. The place is gorgeous, the views are stunning, the toilets need to be seen to be believed and the food, well the food is unbelievable. The menu needs to be unpacked from the wooden dragon box on the tables. A hit with kids. They have an assortment of teas... More

I had a most enjoyably visit to the cooking school. Food was great and the company even better. Bali Asli is a destination over looking rice terraces and Mt Agung in the distance. Wow !!!

Our villa manager in Candidasa suggested we go to Bali Adli on our way to Ubud. Great advice! The drive to restaurant is just stunning but nothing prepares you for the vista once you are seated...green, green fields and an overpoweringly huge mountain directly in front of you (which later became obscured by clouds). The restaurant was conceived, designed and... More

Description
Bali Asli is located in Gelumpang village, near the town of Amlapura, the capital of Karangasem regency, in the North East of Bali. About 2 hours drive from the airport, and 30 minutes from Candidasa village, and 30 minutes from Amed village. Nestled in the foot hills of Mount Agung, Bali's most sacred mountain, surrounded by rice fields, there is not a building to be seen. Bali Asli promotes Balinese cuisine and culture without exploiting it or it's people. We embrace our community, supporting those who fish, farm and forage in the near by fields, ocean and jungle. Our menu offers authentic Balinese food using a traditional Balinese style kitchen, cooking on wood-fired, mud brick stoves, allowing the real flavours of Bali to shine. Most of our ingredients are either grown in our garden, in our neighbour's garden or purchased from the local market The cooking school runs unique classes themed on "a day in the life of..." every class includes an adventure into local areas off the beaten track. Weather it is learning how to plant rice or plough with a cow, fishing in a jukung canoe and cooking on an open fire or making cocktails from cashew nut wine, our students always leave with fond memories and new skills to experiment with when they get home.
