The candy is all hand made there! Very good pralines and the dark chocolate tortues are the best. They also make a wonderful caramel!

We went here in mid-afternoon on a weekday. We wanted some pralines for ourselves as well as gifts to take home. We tried a variety of pralines. The traditional creamy were the best overall. Other flavors were sweet potato (tastes just like a sweet potato pie), chocolate, rum (had an artificial perfumed taste), and coconut. They box everything to order... More

It's all about the delicious decadent pralines here, although you can also get other sweet treats, coffee, and gifs to take home and share.

I will sample all the other shops' pralines, but I only buy from this one! You can watch them make the pralines and other candies, so you know you're getting something local and authentic. The others can't say that...well, they say it, but this shop can prove it. Come here...they ain't cheap, but are so worth every penny you spend.

As a native to Louisiana, I've grown up with pralines as a candy staple to the holidays. The struggle is store bought candies are never as good.... but this shop breaks the sub-par commercialization of Louisiana candy! AMAZING! They are as good (or better) than my grandmother's. Please no one tell her. We also love a candy called divinity that... More

I just recently moved in town and I have tried some pralines from other stores, it was fine nothing extraordinary. I asked my friend what's the best pralines in town because I am visiting my cousin outside the state and I want to bring some New Orleans delicacy, and he told me about Southern Candymakers. Original plan was just 1... More

Don't expect them to honor their on-line or e-mail ad guaranteed delivery promise!!! They won't. Don't know what the restaurant is like but their mail order service is not good.

Yes they do make other candies, However! We tasted many of the different varieties, but the pecan pralines were the top winners. It's not the fruit or nuts, it's the praline mix that makes All the differences in the flavor of the fruit/nut meats added. The mixture actually makes the fruit/nut meats taste better. We searched out this candy maker... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
