Although the Great American Grill is within the Hilton Garden Inn Convention center, it offers really good regional food with wonderful service. We've eaten here several times over several trips and it's been great each time. Terrific wedge salad and the red beans and rice is world class. Also, generous pours for wine by the glass. Good for breakfast, too.

Some of the staff are dressed in clothing worn during WWII Really tastefully done, as is the food. The menu was interesting, especially the names of the drinks. Spacious restaurant with lots of great photography displayed on the walls. A must!

This was an okay place. There was nothing about it that stood out to me but I would try again if I were down there.

Arrived late and just before they closed. Made me a great chicken sandwich and some sweet potato aside dish. Good quick meal with great service

Made-to-Order eggs - my omelet was good; husgand's eggs not cooked as requested (not cooked at all, in fact). Pastries, etc. were good.

This restaurant doubles as the Hilton Garden Inn breakfast joint. Like many hotels in NOLA, breakfast isn't included in the price of your stay. That's neither here nor there. I'm going to let you know about the Great American Grill as a place for lunch or dinner as well. What prompted me to try this place was a coupon I... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
