Great home cooked goodness, memories of mamas cooking that nourishes those soul food cravings. Consistent every time I visit and great service to match large portion sizes

My friend & I traveled all the way from Florida just to get a dose of the new orleans food & lifestyle & culture. After trying to find places to eat we decided to come to this resturant. This was the best decision ever! The plus about this resturant was it was literally one mile down the road from where... More

Had the fried chicken meal. Don't look for fancy, just good 'ol food. I wanted the ox tail, but that is only on Thursdays, so I have to go back! When you go, don't forget to order the bread pudding...the best!!!

Came across this hidden gem and I'm so glad I did! The food was great, service was stellar and the portions are enormous. I'm so glad I wore my stretch pants. Great value for the money!

The food is awesome, the serving extremely generous and the price is reasonable. The lemonade is very good also. I had collard greens, they were very tasty and not bitter. The stuffed peper was old school with ground meat and shrimp, moist but not soupy, it was only $3.00 to add to the daily special. The ribs were tender and... More

We picked up an order of the Stuffed Peppers and the Shrimp and Okra to go. Each order came dished up over rice with a slice of Sweet Potato and a scoop of Green Beans as well as a small container of Potato Salad and a chunk of Cornbread. We thought it everything was very tasty -- the Stuffed Peppers... More

I went to the flagship location On Derbigny St in 2003 where the mother was the chef. Well, mama retired and the food taste like it did also. The daughter took over but the apple fell far from the tree. The two other reviews used the word "stumbled" in that they found the place by chance. I think that stumbled... More

We took the backroads to New Orleans and were looking for a lunch stop. The lot was full and we saw a soul food sign so we said we had to try it. On sitting down, we were greeted with a salad, a bowl of potato salad and big squares of yummy cornbread with real corn. The menu changes every... More
