We made a last minute reservation at Clancy's after a friend texted me that afternoon she had heard good things about it. It's at cool location, uptown in a residential neighborhood. It felt like a real neighborhood place and it reminded me of a New Orleans version of Rao's in NYC. The menu is straightforward with traditional Nerw Orleans fare... More

I am a Louisiana native, but no longer live there, so I asked friends to recommend an uptown restaurant serving good food, cocktails, and ambience these days. I received several responses, but Clancy's was on almost every list. We could not have been happier with the choice. Great service, great food. You really know you're in New Orleans. Will definitely... More

Clancy's was our favorite place to eat on our long weekend getaway. The veal was to die for and even the salad was the better than you anticipate a salad to be. The dessert was just ok, but I did order an ice cream dish and they had better desserts available. Great wine and atmosphere as well. We will definitely... More

Most recent visit 11.25.16. The deafening noise downstairs once again led us to the upstairs dining rooms, which always prove much more civilized if bereft of the "scene" taking place below. For fans of old world wine (and possibly its riper counterparts) Clancy's boasts one of the best wine lists in New Orleans. The Janvers' table was graced by a... More

Clancy' is local at its best. Set in residential area off garden district near Tchopotoulas, the food is fantastic. In my opinion, it has the Best fried soft shell crab in New Orleans! But, it offers so much more than that and it's all fresh and local.

I took part in a group dinner for other colleagues throughout the nation and Canada who gathered for an annual meeting. We had superb service and food. He desserts were amazing- flourless chocolate cake and frozen lemon pie. The dining area is small which makes the noise level high.

Dined here with our grown kids and others in town for a Tulane function, and told this was one of the best restaurants in NOLO. Anticipation certainly was not equal to realization! Clancy's has a very interesting eclectic menu, featuring local seafood dishes with unusual preparation, an excellent, if somewhat expensive, wine list and the air of a busy and... More

Went here with family, who are locals. Staff was attentive, but a bit touchy for me. Back to the reason for the post - the food. We have been in town for three days and are trying new restaurants - have been to the big, fancy, commercial places like Emeril's, Commander's, and Brennen's before and this was head and shoulders... Outstanding food without the tourist crowding. New Orleans has a great many superb restaurants but Clancy's is special. Make the effort. You won't be disappointed.

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
