I have been going to this restaurant for many, many years and really I would say that it is one of my Top 5 favorites in New Orleans. Fabulous food, love the atmosphere and the service is great. The owner is an art collector and has one of the greatest collections of local art that I have seen. You really... More

When the owner personally comes over to greet you, you know you have come to a special place. Excellent Service complements incredible food down to perfection.

I had read these reviews before booking and was thrilled to speak with JoAnn when I made reservations. She is a charming host with a warm personality, and I knew I would be sure and speak with her when we arrived. We were in town for a wedding, but have a habit of celebrating our first date - this time... More

One of our top dinner experiences anywhere! This is a quirky little place presided over by a very charming owner who seems a New Orleans jewel on her own merit. The walls are covered with art of various styles, so visually it's very interesting. However, the food is the real star here. There is a three-course meal for $42 plus... More

Located in the Garden District, this restaurant provides classic New Orleans food - fried green tomatoes with shrimp remoulade, fried oysters, duck, local fish. There is a $48 tasting menu of all the classic flavors but most people get the 3 course meal for $40-50, depending on what you choose as your entree. This is not eclectic nouveau cuisine, just... I travel to New Orleans frequently and want to encourage people to visit this wonderful restaurant. The food, presentation and welcoming nature of Joann Clevenger is second to none in New Orleans. Joann is a joy and this attitude permeates through her establishment. Please dine here. It is a star amount stars in New Orleans!

Upperline is full of art collected by the owner, a charming older lady who was hostessing the night we were there. The fried green tomatoes they are know for are the best I ever had, lightly fried with their house made remoulade on top. Delicious. Everyone enjoyed their food, we had steaks and seafood. The service is impeccable. The restaurant... More

If you are going to position yourself as one of New Orleans' best restaurants, you had better have your act together. You simply have too much competition. We decided to take them up on their challenge and they simply blew us away. They are known for their duck and, man, I can see why. The waiter told us that they... More

Delicious & quaint- the food is outstanding. We had a family Revillon dinner during the Christmas Holiday. Everything was wonderful. JoAnn, the amiable owner/host of Upperline, made us feel like family and she made sure that we were 100% satisfied. The Turtle soup, fried green tomatoes & the fish were simply delicious. Great food, superior service and amazing "local" art... More

Has been looking forward to this evening's meal. Had been advised when we called to check out the special Revillon menu by the owner JoAnn before we reserved to make sure we would be satisfied with the fixe prix fare. Chose the late seating and it was fabulous. Best part arose from a disappointment. My wife wanted crème brulee' as... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
