We booked to dine here one evening and were not disappointed. It's a jackets for men, although I did notice that there seemed to be a selection of jackets at the reception desk. It's quite a walk to the upstairs which is very discreet. Lovely staff who were very attentive but not overbearing, they just want to help you make... More

We had made reservations in the upstairs dining room for a Saturday lunch, but upon leaving, noticed the downstairs was quite empty and we probably could have sat there, which seemed a bit livelier. Overall, we enjoyed the lunch and cocktails. I had their Godchaux salad, with a delicious mustard dressing, crab and shrimp. The waiter was a bit overly... More

We have known about Galatoire's for decades but this was our first visit. Ambience was interesting - obviously old building not recently updated but still had to wear a coat to eat dinner - fortunately they supplied one. Food was excellent, service great. A little noisier than we like but recently we have noticed that to be the norm. Always... More

It has been several years since we have dined at Galatoire's and we were not disappointed. The food, service, atmosphere were as expected, fine dining at it's best. Our sever, Jordan was patient and allowed us to not only enjoy the meal but the company of our friends. From the appetizers to the desserts there is no better place to... More

We were a party of 8, dressed to code for the restaurant. We were all seated promptly, wine and appetizers arrived quickly after ordering. The restaurant was packed and although quite loud, we could easily carry on conversation. Dinner entree orders were taken by a very efficient waiter who explained the full menu to us. Water glasses were constantly refilled,... More

It is worth noting that there is Galatoire's and Galatoire's 33. We accidentally made our reservation for Galatoire's 33. Happily, Galatoire's was still able to accommodate us. I like that Galatoire's enforces a dress code. They have jackets for men to borrow if they do not wear one. May birthdays were celebrated while we were there (including mine) and that... More

This is one of the oldest and most renowned restaurants in New Orleans. The place to see and be seen. It has been here since either the late 18 hundreds or early 19 hundreds. The food is mostly our local French cuisine. It is excellent. The service is phenomenal. Most of the waiters have been there for years. They are... More

Earlier this month, our party of six had highly-anticipated Friday lunch reservations at Galatoire's. We were all looking forward to our meal at this well-regarded restaurant because it came recommended by one of our friend's coworkers, who happens to work at a well-known and respected food magazine. We were told in advance that there was a dress code and were... More

Galatoire's, like Antoine's and Brennan's, is one of those New Orleans institutions that you feel you must try. We had a fine but not wonderful experience. With a very early reservation, we were initially seated at a table for two that was built in such a way that we banged our knees. We asked to move and were put at... More

Still the best Fresh grilled redfish and oysters Rockefeller in New Orleans. Turtle soup, shrimp remoulade, lump crab, and puff potatoes great too. Service and food excellent.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
