4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed yesterday NEW

After years of visiting New Orleans, we decided that we had to try Galatoire's for Thanksgiving. Made a reservation for 2:00 pm. On Tuesday before T'giving, a lady called to request a credit card to hold the reservation. (She knew enough about the reservation that I felt comfortable that she was the real thing.) I had read after making the... More

Galatoire's is fascinating for many reasons: the people watching, the ambiance, the food. One thing we weren't sure of on our most recent visit was if they could accommodate my multiple food allergies. They don't promote food allergy awareness as much as some of the other restaurants in the French Quarter, and we were very pleasantly surprised. I had a... More

I have to say that all in all I was totally disappointed & pissed off. If it wasn't for our Server Steve I would be pissed off to no end. Steve improved my mood - Thank you :) I booked this reservation over 6mnths in advance for my 50th birthday. Noting this fact on the 4 separate occasions I spoke... More

Our last visit was 39 years ago. I am glad we came back! We had an oysters bienville. My wife had an superbly cooked filet with Bernaise sauce and lump crabmeat. I had the stuffed eggplant that really is a huge plate of crab and shrimp in a great sauce. We shared panacotta for dessert. Good service on busy day.... More

While my wife and I were visiting New Orleans, I wanted to take her to dinner at a nice restaurant and Galatoire's was recommended by a co-worker of mine. We arrived about 15 minutes prior to our 6pm reservation time and were shown right to our table. Our server, Maja, was at our table within one minute of our being... More

Although we live in Western NC, on a whim made reservations here for Thanksgiving dinner. Although the regular entrees are available, they also offer a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. It was delicious! Deep fried turkey breast, sweet potatoes, seafood and eggplant dressing and cranberry sauce. Our server, Joshua, took very good care of us. We arrived early planning to go to... We attended lunch at Galatoire's Restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful, although difficult to understand. The atmosphere was a bit different than expected in that it was much more like a diner than a fancy restaurant, but maybe that was my fault in expecting something else.

We expected fine dining, but instead the food is timeless old school New Orleans fare. Dining room is brightly lit and really really loud because locals go there to see and be seen, so the people watching is entertaining. Like other reviewers stated, wait staff is busy and the dining room is crowded with guests standing up and talking to... More

Visited recently and was not let down. We did not have reservations so the hostess said we could get a drink at their bar next door while we waited for a table and she would text me when a table was available. I asked for John the waiter who gladly took care of us. My guest and I asked for... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
