My husband and I had dinner and drinks here our first night in Nola! We have been here for three days and so far this has been our favorite. We had the duck fat pop corn and bone marrow to start and they were both amazing! For dinner my husband got the gourmet grilled cheese which was to die for... More

If you want to take a break from traditional NOLA oysters and poboys, do check out Meuxbar. Don’t be fooled by the outside that doesn’t tell much or the location – the border of French Quarter. The place is amazing. The menu items all sounded so good, we wanted to try it all. But ended up with escargot, liver pate,... More

So our first night in NOLA we walked up St Phillips Street to Louis Armstrong Park and we dined at Meauxbar. There were five of us and we all had delicious meals. The highlight of the apps was the Pork Belly and Gulf Shrimp. We also tried the Burrata and it was delicious. The roasted bone marrow was the third... More

Our family ate dinner at Meauxbar last night and were impressed by the ambiance and the meal. Eclectic, but not pretentious, this small place boasts a wonderful menu, well-balanced cocktails, and friendly staff. They accommodated our guest with Celiac disease, who is quite sensitive to cross-contamination. The waitstaff were knowledgeable about the food and preparations and were able to communicate... More

Roosevelt concierge suggested Meauxbar to us - roughly a mile from the Roosevelt across the street from Louis Armstrong Park. Cute corner location, well lit, with a welcoming staff. We were seated in the relatively intimate dining room by the window. It was a Sunday night, and the restaurant was roughly 1/2 full - two big groups of birthday celebrations... More

The food is delicious. It's a small, cozy place with not your normal meals. I think ownership has recently changed, but I have noticed only small details to indicate a change. A little pricey, but atmosphere is cozy!

Meauxbar is on Rampart, which is now enjoying a renaissance due to the new streetcar. This is a great looking spot, very polished speakeasy, which led me to give it a shot. Service was average, which is not saying alot as we were the only people in there. The music was kind of club techno, which did not fit the... More

My wife and I were in NOLA over a Saturday night. We didn't reserve a dinner table early and the restaurant recommendations we had gotten could not seat us until much too late. I did an internet search found the Meauxbar with a table at a reasonable time and decided to give it a try. We were delighted. The food... More

My wife and I arrived at Meauxbar on 10/24/2016 on time for our 5:30pm reservation. We were seated promptly. Then, a young man with brown hair and a brown beard introduced himself as our server. He began to tell us in detail about dishes we inquired about and this was well received by us as we were looking to enjoy... More

Description
Located on a picturesque corner of the Vieux Carre, Meauxbar is a vibrant neighborhood gem. A typical evening finds an eclectic mix of French Quarter residents, locals from across the city, as well as out of town visitors. Accessible and smart, with a unique worldview, our food and beverage menus are reflected in locally-inspired, modern bistro fare created by Chef Kristen Essig.

Our menu rotates seasonally, though some classics remain throughout: Escargot in Bone is a guest favorite when paired with an Herbsaint luge. Pork Belly and Scallops is a rich and hearty starter. Our Hanger Steak with Frites and Bearnaise appeals to those in search of a Bistro classic, while our Lamb Loin with Golden Raisins perfectly exemplifies Chef Essig's vision and style. Rooted in the old world, we offer wine by the glass, carafe, and bottle. Guests will see many familiar varietals as well as some more unique and off-beat selections.

Our core philosophy is centered around the whole dining experience: great food and service, memorable moments, culture, warmth, energy, and a celebratory feel. We want to be a part of our guests' lives.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
