Was really looking forward to a special meal to end our vacation on a high note, so as usual I chose Adolfo's. I was bummed that my grouper was so overcooked that it was a disgusting mush under the wonderful sauces. A major turn off, as I consider texture to be as impt as taste. Also, I never really minded... Intimate, rustic, plenty of good food. Great service. Flounder was average, but seafood topping was to die for. Nice side of salad or pasta with entrées. Would do again.

Rack of lamb was great. Veal piccata not as much. The rack was six chops in an extremely thick layer of herbs. Loved it.

This small, vibrant restaurant is situated above the Apple Barrell bar, which plays live music. We enjoyed having a drink here until a table was available. The food was very good. We shared an egg plant with crab meat starter and had salmon with a creole sauce for our main. This came with pasta and salad. House wine by the... More

A trolley ride with a local gentleman gave us the hint to seek this place out. Top of the stairs on Frenchman St brings you to this tiny CASH ONLY gem. Get the ocean sauce. On anything really. It's two separate sauces as a matter of fact. One offsets the other. Had mine over a plate full of perfectly prepared... More

We were looking for dinner after arriving in town after 9 pm. Not very many places open. The staff at Adolfos was very welcoming at 9:30 pm. The restaurant is really cute with red walls and oil paintings from floor to ceiling. They had a rollicking band downstairs . The food was exceptional. I had the chicken picatta and my... More

This jam-packed 12-table restaurant is worth a visit. The menu is simple-- fish, chicken, beef and veal prepared in a variety of sauces. Portions are large (2 of us actually could have split one order), food is tasty. We had the mussels for an appetizer-- they were delicious! Service was friendly. Cash only, but they have an ATM on site... More

Tucked away upstairs, behind a red door is the best restaurant of Frenchman Street! Chefs prepare FRESH seafood with an amazing twist to flavors that you can select to go with your fresh catch of the day! Mouthwatering! Service was fantastic, and the little restaurant is quaint and worth the wait to get in! Can't wait to return to the... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighbourhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
