Bon Ton is a Creole place, but you have to ask for hot spices. Their fish and shellfish is prepared with butter and flavors, and cooked perfectly, accompanied by mashed potatoes, onion rings, and roasted brussels sprouts. They have crawfish, served as a rich bisque, signature dish etouffe (with rice), as fried nuggets with Alzina's sauce, (and several other options),... More

This New Orleans landmark offers up delicious, creole staples such as shrimp, lobster and crawfish in a polished-up setting that reflects well on Louisiana's history. Excellent and friendly service with a fine wine cellar. You can't go wrong.

We had a wonderful dinner and experience at this Bon Ton Cafe! We made a reservation (highly recommended) and when we arrived the hostess (who I believe was one of the owner's) noticed our table was sandwiched between a couple of larger groups...she moved us to a better table for two (not so crowded) and I thought that was very... My parents took my sister and I to the Bon Ton 42 years earlier and it was a favorite place for my father to treat my sister and her college friends years ago. My dad's been gone a long time but my 91 year old mom wanted to revisit the place and good memories from the past. They don't take... More

Started with the house run drink- almost like a margarita made with rum. It was excellent and I would definitely order it again. The main course of crawfish 4 ways was a great choice and the crawfish were cooked perfectly throughout. Skip the bourbon Bread pudding- the sauce tasted like eating straight bourbon.

Wow. If you are looking for a classic Traditional taste of New Orleans then look no further. The recipes are humble and respectful of authentic traditional Louisiana French Cajun food. If the fact that the food is amazing isn't enough well the service is even better. I was in there when ever table was full and they were on a... More

Delighted to find that they could rustle up a very tasty vegetarian jambalaya, good to the last bite. A wonderful warm atmosphere, with friendly service. Plenty of guests there, which was also a good sign. Highly recommended.

This was high on my list this visit and I'm glad we made it. We split a jambalaya appetizer, I had a mix of crab meat imperial and crab au gratin. Husband had etouffe. Everything was excellent and I would recommend it!

Bon Ton Cafe is one of those places that has been around forever, always doing a good job. Places like this seem to run on the maxim “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. There’s really nothing to fix here. At the same time, Bon Mot isn’t going to set the culinary world on fire. We had made a reservation... More

We have been going to this restaurant for many years and it is consistently good, but this time it surpassed our expectations. This is one of the only places where you can get true crawfish bisque and it is excellent. We lucked out and had soft shell crabs this time ... (they set some aside for us because they run... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
