I have been coming here for years and no trip is complete without a visit here. Just great food. Generous portions and great service. But look out... the char grilled oysters will knock your socks off! Make sure you dunk the French bread! Omg! Oyster heaven The absolute best

We waited over an hour and a half for a table. Meal was ok. Not an hour and a half wait good. A couple at a table next to us must have found something that did not belong on their oyster plate because the waiter politely took it back and apologized. There are many more eateries that are better and... More

We were there with 3 other couples. The room is very small so we felt packed like sardines. The food was good but a little overpriced in my opinion. She wouldn't do separate tickets, but she was very nice and attentive. Probably won't go back, can find a roomier place with food just as good for a cheaper price.

The place was busy and there was a line out the door. We opted to try the po-boys which were pretty good. However it is not worth the wait (both to get seated and for your food to arrived) and how loud the place was.

Founded in 1910 and still going strong, this no frill iconic oyster bar is my first stop when I land in New Orleans. On this trip, I dined at Acme oyster bar three times. I'm a big fan of a boil - the first night I got 1/2 lbs of boiled shrimp as an appetizer (it was not crawfish season... More

I love Acme!! Their bread is crunchy and their seafood is cook just right! The shrimp are so good and Oysters are not cook to death. The coleslaw is really good. Gumbo is a dark roux and not to spicy. This is my favorite place to go for a PoBoy don't miss it!

I was solo so I was able to get seated quickly at the bar. What a great show watching the oyster shuckers powering through dozens and dozens and dozens of oysters. I had the shrimp and oyster poboy and followed them with grilled oysters. The poboy was great but the oysters were one of the best things I've EVER eaten.

What atmosphere? Lost of neon signs (one suggests "Waitress Sometimes Available", another indicates a nonexistent "poet's corner"), lots of congestion (we waited outside for 20 minutes - at 4:30 in the afternoon), lots of noise. Ah, but yes - the oysters made it worth the while. We probably had beer, maybe some bread - I vaguely recall dipping up sauce... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
