Most recently we had breakfast there for 4 adults and 2 kids. Arrive early to get a table for breakfast without waiting. We had one banana pancake with pecans for one adult and split one banana pancake between the two kids. The banana pancake portions were so large that we ended up taking them home for another meal. We also... More

The brunch at Surrey's is excellent. The food is incredible! It is a small restaurant so you might have to wait, but it is well worth it! Recommend the French Toast!

We have been to this location twice now, both accidentally, when we have come to New Orleans (somehow we happened upon it twice and came to the same conclusion that we needed to eat there, only realizing once we walked in that we have definitely been here before!). First, the team are extremely nice, fun and energetic. They answered all... More

Breakfast here was the best breakfast we (there were four of us) had ever had. Banana foster French toast like 15 million stars the other kind of French toast with a fancy French name 15 million stars my husband got a shrimp specialty omelette which was good but he kept stealing French toast. Might be a wait but stay it... More

Even though we were staying downtown for the holidays, we made the trek to Surrey's Uptown. Regretfully, we were stuffed from our holiday dining and could only eat some healthy dishes. They were good and served at the proper temperature. I wanted to try the boudin, but was disapointed. It was just okay. We chose to sit outside and another... More

Went with family for Holiday Brunch. Everyone enjoyed mimosa's and various dishes. I had the shrimp & grits and it was delicious!! There were six in our group and they sat us comfortably inside. There was also outside seating and it was a dog friendly area, I loved that. The staff were friendly and took pictures with our phones so... More

We stumbled across Surrey's while walking from the French Quarter to the Garden District (which is far, but a really interesting walk). We were craving clean, light, healthy food and had no idea that Surrey's was going to fulfill this craving. We sat at the counter, which was fun. We got to interact with the staff. They were enthusiastic, friendly... More

When we moved to New Orleans in 2013, it was recommended to us by co-workers and was the first place we went to brunch. Since then, we've been to Surrey's Uptown dozens of times. I always get the salmon eggs or the crab omelet and have never been disappointed (I get grits with it and it is gluten free). I... More

The place is right on Magazine street with outside seating. There are a good variety of selections in the menu-both for breakfast and lunch (they are open only till 3 pm). We went for breakfast. I had the egg white omelet with roasted peppers. The omelet was cooked just right and not greasy at all. The veges were mostly peppers.... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
