I found the Chartres House to be a bit of a disappointment. The fried alligator was just okay and I had much better elsewhere. Same could be said of the shrimp remoulade. Not to say anything was bad, but given the reputation, it was a little bit of a let-down. The bartender was friendly and attentive.

We chose this restaurant due to its location away from the noise and crowds of bourbon street. The menu was typical of the other restaurants. We ordered alligator bites and a bowl of soup. When the food arrived we were actually quite stunned to see how small the portions were. The Alligator bites were $12.00 there where probably half a... More

Staff was so friendly and helpful. Went with a party of 8 and the waitress offered and didn't seem bothered at all to do separate checks which was very appreciated. Spinach and artichoke dip is very good as well as the muffaletta. they have seating in the back and out in the garden. For stumbling into a place, you can... More

We had there oysters, was disappointed how small it was and very pricy. In this area of New Orleans It seems that most of these restaurants are very high priced,

I got the taste of New Orleans sampler and everything was tasty. Highly recommend the jambalaya and etouffee. Very friendly service too. Great location just off the square. Fair prices for the food and location. I would eat here again. Kids are okay, especially in the courtyard.

Excellent service and the BBQ shrimp are fantastic! Not really BBQ but the shrimp are about 8-10 inches long and delicious! Open late too. Tell them I sent you.

We stopped by here for lunch on Christmas Eve, they were pretty busy but we got a table on the balcony in the lovely sunshine. The lady that greeted us, seem to be a little put out that she had to escort us up stairs as 'she had just been up there', however, her colleague was very nice and took... More

We were walking around looking for a place to have dinner. We spotted this restaurant and after checking out the reviews at "trip" decided to give it a chance. We both ordered the blackened redfish. It was served with steamed veggies and jambalaya. It was delicious. A true thumbs up for this restaurant. By the way, good service also.

The food was good, but I only had a burger. Prices were reasonable, view would have been nice but the street was dirty and would kick up when a large car or truck went down the street. Balcony was full, and everyone had a good time.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
