We found this place by mistake. The place was an old rootbeer stand but very clean and taken care of. The food was fresh and hot. Crew wasn't very friendly. Kinda rude really. I couldn't believe that 3 sandwiches with fries and drink was $36.00....More

This diner style business has been a staple in the college/uptown area of New Orleans since 1955. Frostop Rootbeer is smooth and creamy and served in "Frostop" diners across the country. At $12 for a sandwich, fried and a drink it could rival stops at...More

Conveniently located across the street from Tulane University 1/2 block off of Claiborne Avenue. My family was short on time- but wanted to have a sit-down breakfast. We ordered the Steak/Eggs/Hashbrowns and the pancakes/eggs/grits/sausage combos. The speedy service could only be outmatched by the perfectly...More

We stopped in over the weekend the food is great!!! However it is on the expensive side as in $50 for 4 people for burgers and fries. The reason I'm giving it a 3 is because the tables were not clean, the floors was sticky,...More

Thank you for letting us know that the tables were not cleaned sufficiently. The staff has been advised. That is not the standard our old time diner requires

I wish they still had more of these around. I loved the old school relaxed vibe of the place and loved the root beer float even more! I just wish there were more of these around so I wouldn't have to travel across the country...More

Its off the beaten path for visitors.... but like you I love those Root Beer Floats. Did you try the old fashioned pin ball machines too?

I've lived in New Orleans off and on since 1980. We had a Frostop near my high school but I never got food from there. I finally made my first visit to see what I had been missing. They offer your basic diner menu of...More

Thanks for joining us for the diner-experience. Wholesome food, good company, pinball machines and frothy rootbeer. What else could you ask for in a diner?

Took my sons there for the Monday Special, Red Beans and Rice with sausage. Their beans can compete with anyone's in town. The place gave me the chance to tell my kids that I too went there as a boy with my father.

We hear so many stories of multi-generational visits. Ted's Frostop is a giant step back in time since it's original opening was in 1955. Come back again for that crazy good Rootbeer!

Reviewed 22 March 2015

Of course, we arrived at 6:55 p.m. didn't look at the sign on the door stating they closed in 5 minutes, and spent the next 5 minutes taking pictures outside of the very cool throw-back to the days of the neighborhood hamburger/soda shop. Pictures safely...More

Sorry you missed the dining experience - and PS. the free pac-man machines. Anyway, thanks for the nice review!

Whenever I go back to my hometown I have to stop at frostop. My dad used to take me here as a kid all the time. Owner/manager and staff are always so friendly. Great place for locals and tourist seeking a New Orleans Classic.

Ted's is truly a classic. Opened in 1955, Mr. Ted ran it until after Hurricane Katrina. We began the management a few years ago and keep the old time diner heart and soul, as he would have liked.
