The Hospiz was a lunch stop one day during our visit to St Anton.
It came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint.
The location is fantastic and the service was awesome.
The staff couldn’t have been any friendlier and were very efficient.
It’s the kind of place you could spend €30 to €150 on lunch, but was absolutely brilliant.

Large group of us stopped here for lunch on our last day of skiing in St Anton.
We had the house speciality lunch, a platter of prawns, meats etc to start, followed by Chateaubriand and an amazing Rose wine. Service was first class with plenty of “theatre”. Expensive, but worth one visit in a week as a treat.

The Hospiz Alm has become kind of a destination place for our group and we'll probably never ski at St. Anton without having a lunch or dinner here. The Inn is located just off a run with easy access for skiers.
The dining areas is large but it can get crowded so you'll want to make reservations early (like days ahead) if you have a large group. We arrived fairly early for lunch and while we had almost a dozen people we were quickly seated at a table with our promise we would be done well before the group that had reserved it would arrive.
The ambiance and decor of the inn is fantastic and you'll find plenty to look at whether indoors or outside. Make sure to use the slide (yes there's a slide) down to the WC because it's there specifically to make it easier for the skiers with clumsy boots.
The food and drinks are very good and our group thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service can be hectic due to the crowds but that's to be expected during the busy times. Definitely will continue to return.

Like many of the people giving terrible reviews - we had been excited to try this place for lunch
The experience was beyond disappointing.
The staff were incredible rude, from the very beginning.
We arrived 10 mins before and were told despite booking an inside table we were sitting outside and were told to go away and come back on time.!
When we did sit down, the staff didn’t bother cleaning the table or ensuring that we had cutlery or napkins
The staff spent a lot of time with the clientele who were clearly spending a lot of time with those clients that they perceived were spending a lot of money on wine and had no interest in us.
We ordered our food and 4 of 6 were served and 40 mins later 2 had not received their meal. On questioning the staff they said they were sorry but they were busy ….
And that the wine was their priority …
Eventually the head waiter offered us a bottle of Prosecco and when it was suggested to him, accepted that the 2 missing meals would be free
The food was actually very nice when it came but the overall experience was one of frustration rather than of enjoyment

Dear Sir,
thank you for your valuable review. We regret the impression you got from our service.
Guests with a large number of orders actually demand “more” service. In most cases, these are orders for large bottles or dishes that are prepared by the service staff at the table (special glasses / decanting / grilled meat, etc.). This usually leads to a close exchange between service staff and guest. We will be happy to take your feedback with us, we aim to provide all our guests with the same level of service and quality.
We really hope to welcome you again to show you that hospitality is our top priority.
Best regards,

We were a group of friends for diner. Excited to try this place which we heard lots of good things about.
Sadly, our experience was rather terrible.
We were given no choice then to opt for a set menu because we were supposedly a big group with no other option then meat. The meat arrived bloody when we specifically asked tor it to be cooked medium. The side dishes were poor, tiny portions of cold vegetables, fries, and a rather disappointing bearnaise. We were sent 2 assortments of deserts which they decided on as well. Each desert was charged individually. A bit weird for a set menu? Not to mention how actually horrible they were. The brownie was cold, the crumble was well everything but a crumble.
To top it all up, the bill arrived and we were charged 180 euro per person.
Service was poor, management was misleading.
At the end, we all felt taken advantage of. Shameful for a restaurant of this standing. We could’ve actually opted for an a la carte menu, but seemed they had other plans. Lets charge them the highest amount for the least effort given.

As soon as you enter this restaurant you feel you are somewhere special. The decor and authentic Austrian dress of the staff lift the ambience and you can’t help but settle into this warm and cosy restaurant. Food prices and quality reasonable but beer pricey. 5.70 euro for small wheat beer at lunch.

Thank you to Patrick and the team for looking after us so well.
The food was outstanding.
The Potato Field Salad is a modest description for what is an incredible dish, one which must be complex to create so that every element of it is just right as it reaches the table.
We’d also recommend the Selection of Turnip.
The Schnitzel “Viennese - style” was the best we’ve every had anywhere.
The Saddle of Deer was cooked perfectly and the quality of the meat was exceptional.
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, the deserts raised the standard further. The Chocolate cake with fluid centre beats any ‘chocolate fondant’ I’ve had anywhere else. We’d also recommend the Chocolate chestnut tarte.
The whole experience was perfect from start to finish.

We went there twice. We went once for lunch on the slopes which was ok.
The dinner was not a good experience at all.
The place is cute, but we got ripped off!
We ended up paying 180 euros pp for a salad and a bit of meat!
We had a formula and no one warned us about the price of the formula… so in the end we were super shocked to see what we paid for what we ate
The dessert supposedly was part of the formula, for 12 people we received 2 big plates on which there were 2 apple tarts each, someslices of chocolate brownies and miniature creme brulees. Each apple tart abd brownie was at 19 euros! For things we basically did not eat…
Very very disappointing.

The food at lunchtime was ok, it is hearty , hot food, apparently the evening meal is much better. It is the atmosphere, the beautiful scenery , that makes the place so enjoyable. We came from St. Anton with the baby to meet the skiing parents. Taxi will take you from door to door, extremely convenient with a pushchair. The taxi is 24 euros each way.

My husband and I came here for dinner one night during our trip, I had previously made reservations; we'd come to Hospiz Alm last year for lunch on the slopes and it was so lovely we wanted to come back this year for dinner. The parking is a NIGHTMARE. They advertise having their own parking lot but it's horribly small and the staff is so rude when asking where to park. It seemed vibrant inside, but I think the service is catered to bigger groups who are spending more money. We were put in a small room that felt totally cut off from the rest of the restaurant, and a bit awkward. Staff is not overly friendly, I felt snubbed when I walked in for speaking English. I think this place caters to customers who are spending top dollar. The food was good, don't get me wrong, however, not worth the prices. There are better restaurants for less right in St. Anton with a much better atmosphere. Our bill was the highest of our whole trip and it was far from our best meal and experience/service. We did end up getting a tour of the wine cellar and that's incredible, honestly a must see. There's no where else like it. With that being said, ski into St. Christoph and have lunch here. Great vibe, great food. Unless you're a group of probably six or more, don't come here for dinner. You will be treated like a waste of time and that you're inconveniencing the staff.

Some friends of ours come every year and highly recommended Hospiz Alm for lunch as it’s their absolute favourite. It’s such a beautiful interior, very traditional with wood panelling and candles. We arrived just before midday to have a coffee and then some lunch. There were lots of staff around but no one greeted us so we sat down at the bar and looked through the food menu. The staff were not friendly at all, they didn’t smile or acknowledge us and it made us feel really unwelcome. The food was ok but it was just really weird how unfriendly the staff were. So disappointed as we’ve found the St Anton restaurants to be super friendly and welcoming. We’re always very friendly - we’re on holiday and having fun - so no idea why our smiles weren’t reciprocated! Maybe because we’re not locals and hadn’t been there before.

We were a group of ten, six adults and four kids, having a fondue evening. The restaurant is very cozy and the food was ok. However I have never experienced this kind of service.
We were pressured by the personnel to buy very expensive wine. Their first proposal was that we should by a 6 liter wine bottle for 1000 Euros. Thereafter they offered a bottle for 600 and finally 350 Euros. When we explained that we where there mainly for the fondue we where no longer of any interest as guests. Strange and disappointing.

We had a lovely meal with great service and nice wine. We were sat by the open fire where the fresh meats were being cooked, a great table but it got a little hot!
We were fortunate enough to be shown around the extensive wine cellar and private dining areas by the very helpful and informative waiter - AMAZING!
Great ambiance and was made to feel special. Hope to return some day.

Have eaten in many restaurants in Austria, both in the slopes and cities, and the schnitzel you got here was a joke - frozen chicken with fries - nothing else. No garniture at all! This was the first time I find the food under the excellent level these Austrian huts usually have.
The wine list is impressive and service is good, but this place is overrated and too expensive. Did not go there again.

We have been skiing in St Anton maybe ten times in the last twenty years. We always go to the Hospiz Alm in St Cristoph for lunch, it's been a family tradition. We always book. We called in on Monday morning on the way through to book for Thursday. I waited while a member of staff finished a phone call, although he walked straight past me only to return a couple of minutes later to finish the call. I was offered 12pm or 2pm on Thursday. I opted for 2pm.
We duly arrived at 2pm to see signs on the door advising that the restaurant would close at 3pm. A marquee had been erected beside the restaurant, there was frenetic activity. Slightly concerning. I asked about our table, I was told it would be a couple of minutes. We waited, I asked again, same response. Eventually we were ushered into a small ante room that maybe seats 12 people. It was cold (outside temp was -12), nobody else eating, no music, zero atmosphere. We set about ordering, concerned about the time constraint. We also asked to get a table in the restaurant. No room anywhere we were told. My daughter went out to look. There was room to sit at another table. Another member of staff agreed to move us. We got our food around 2.25pm and were rushing as it was clear they were trying to clear the place. We asked for another drink around 2.45pm but were told that was not possible. I was still eating shortly before 3pm when I was asked to pay the bill.
Clearly, some high rollers had booked the whole place for the rest of the day. No problem with that. I do have a problem being treated like a nuisance.
A very disappointing end for something that has been an institution for us in St
Anton. We will hopefully find somewhere else to replace it.

Dear Sir,
thank you very much for your review. First we want to apologize for the experience you have made at your last stay with us. We totally understand your frustration and yes, on the day of your visit the reopening party of the Hospiz Alm took place. Thus, the restaurant had to close at 3 pm. This should have been communicated to you upfront at point of booking. We will brief our reservation team for future events.
As it seems you have been seated in our “Schafstall” which is usually a nice and cozy part of the restaurant.
We are very sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay with us. We hope to welcome you again next time for your family tradition and to show you that hospitality is our top priority.
