First place we head to when we get on the island, excellent food, reasonable prices (for Hawaii) and a pretty nice view, often see whales. Can get busy so come early. Beer choices are a little limited, but extensive wine and liquor options. My personal favorite is the seared ahi plate they offer it as a salad also, but I... More

Sam Choy's Kai Lanai has always been a great time for us. We have visited several times and have never been disappointed. The food has a gourmet feel with a lot of local product used to help enhance the flavor. The top end of the menu price is a little high but the view is priceless. There's not a bad... More

This was our 2nd time back at 7:30pm so no view per say (too dark out). The service was good but way to fast... The friendly waitress took out drink, appie and food order at once and we expected things to come out over some time but nope. It all showed up at once with no time to enjoy a... More

It is hard to beat this place for its views over the Pacific ocean. Just for the views, it would be worth going there for an appetizer and a drink to watch the sunset. And because of The open design, a lot of the tables have a great few, not just those along the edge of the restaurant. We went... More

We had heard view was fabulous and it was! We had mixed reviews on food but the 4 of us were all pleased. Catch of the day was very good as was steak and macadamia nut-crusted chicken. All good with spectacular view above Keahou. Only weird thing was Happy Hour menu's appetizers were same price as regular menu. Would definitely... More

My husband and I decided to come here on the last night of our trip to watch the sunset and have a couple of cocktails. This restaurant came highly recommended by our concierge. I was a little skeptical at first based on some previous reviews. But we are glad we did. We had intended just to stay for about an... More

Even locals eat her. Located south of Kona, this is a must eatery. The ocean view is to die for. The menu is varied, and everyone will find something to their liking. I had a salad as my entree, and it was small. Next time I will add to that, perhaps soup or their pot stickers, which looked fabulous.

This would've been five stars if it wasn't just a teeny bit pricey. But of course everything in Hawaii is about five bucks more than it would be on the mainland. I had a delicious fish wrapped in ti leaves, I think. Butterfish, opa and a soft shell crab (fried) with veggies. And in a quirky but much appreciated combination, garlic... More

Annual visit to Kona. Last year's was disappointing, but we decided to give it another try with our travel companions. This time I had the laulau and it was fabulous with Ono, shrimp, soft shell crab and a savory sauce. Others had duck and the mac crusted catch of the day. All were pleased with their choices. The island drinks... More

Sam Choy's was highly recommended. We went there for a romantic dinner and were somewhat disappointed. I had poke, I think my husband might have had duck or something. It was fine, but unremarkable. It was all served with a brisk business-like attitude, not exactly rude, but not warm either. The ambience could have been better.
