BIG is our favorite restaurant in town. We love the family atmosphere, the delicious food and the reasonable prices. Our family favorite is the teriyaki beef or the Loco moco. If you have enough room for dessert, you cannot miss the Hauppauge ice cream cake with Mac nuts and fudge! The decor is nothing fancy and could actually use a... More

We went in for breakfast and left hungry. The traditional breakfast had a very small portion of hash browns and toast is not included. With a cup of coffee and tip it cost about $13. My wife ordered a small saimin for about $1 less. Nice size bowl of broth. Very little actually floating in the broth. Good service.

The food there is less then impressive. I ordered the loco combo with eggs, bacon, hash browns and gravy. Assume this was like any other breakfast place I assumed that when they said gravy it was breakfast gravy. It wasn't! It was brown beef gravy. I'll take the responsibility for that because I didn't clarify. But my husband got eggs... More

Service and food were okay. Would not need to go back again necessarily. Very friendly service and food came quick.

If you are in Kona and want to experience delicious real Hawaiian food for way less than resort prices, look no further than Big Island Grill. Ate here twice during our recent stay in Kona and walked away smiling with satisfaction both times. From authentic loco moco and chicken katzu to delicious fresh fish with Hawaiian influences, nothing on the... More

Have reviewed BIG negatively several times in the past but keep hoping for a positive experience. This time I tried having their breakfast. Bummed out again. Got the combo French toast/ eggs/ ham plate. Eggs were ordered over hard, came runny inside but burnt on the outside. (Grill too hot?) Ham was greasy and salty with some burnt spots. Sweet... More

Our Hawaiian version of Denny's. A family restaurant that serves local comfort food. Locally owned, reasonable prices, huge portions- not much more you can ask for? In the morning, I like the loco moco. I usually opt for a traditional (hamburger). They have a slew of other toppings you can choose from, but I keep it regular. Lunch and dinner... More

The outside and inside of the place is really need of some tlc, the place looks like it hasn't been touched in 30-40 years. My husband got the cabbage and pork. The pork is steamed and had no flavor, this was suppose to be Kailua pork! The meat was also wet as it is steamed with the cabbage. I had... More

We liked it so much we ate there 4 out of the 6 days we were in Kona. Catch of the day cooked perfectly! We tried a little bit of everything and was never disappointed. Bring your appetite or plan to share like we did. Even when packed they checked up on us and let us know where our order... More
