This restaurant is wonderful. I save it for special occasions. The menu is limited, and the food is excellent quality. I highly recommend.

While the wine pairings are expensive, you're getting really excellent wine, and that was the highest-value part of the meal. Along those lines, don't be afraid to guide the sommelier. If they turn up with a category of wine that isn't working for you, you can always gently suggest another direction. Pours were a little more scant than last time.... More

The atmosphere is wonderful, if you're not aiming for a very posh place. It's intimate and quiet, and everything feels carefully curated for comfort. We came on a weekday, so it wasn't particularly crowded or noisy. The food was fantastic. To be honest, I've never had anything so fancy. The other reviews go into the price/cost breakdown, so I'll skip... More

Yes, Altura is expensive: $137 a person for a 10-course, three-hour dinner, excluding drinks, and not counting the 9.6% sales tax. So my partner and I had three glasses of wine between us, and left, after a 15% tip, $400 poorer. But the food—a fusion of Northwest and Italian—was memorably good. Now, I'm no fan of mushrooms, cured meat, beef,... More

This was our New Year's Eve dinner. They had a set menu which I always enjoy and we went with the wine pairings. The place is a little too loud and cramped for my taste, but I do realize this is the way fine dining is going so can't fault the restaurant for that. I did like the fact it... More

Why do I love Altura so much? Incredible everything but presented in a chill, unassuming manner. No flaunt here. You can dress up for a fancy evening, or you can wear the fleece you just hiked in. Very intimate and low-lit. Tables are close together so don't go here to tell secrets! Definitely order the wine pairings with dinner. If... More

Delicious food, great wine list. We had an amazing dinner with great service. Love the open kitchen. Only complaint would be European style seating (just not my preference).

As a solo diner, I can recommend a seat at the bar to watch the chefs in action. The no-choice menu is Italian themed and includes many, many amuse bouches. These were simply amazing, both in flavour and the luxury/quality of the ingredients. As good as I've tasted anywhere. The meal continued with small course after small course of brilliance.... More

Altura, amazing tasting experience, amazing wine pairing selection. It is pre-selected tasting menu only, 18 unique tastes and 9 unique wines. It was very expensive, not for those who look at the cost. The white truffles were a mild disappointment as they did not have the deep intense taste of black truffles. One is pampered throughout the meal. If one... More

Wow. Amazing Food. Amazing Presentation. Amazing Space. Amazing Drink Pairings. The 3 of us did the Chef's tasting menu with drink pairing, and it was superb. The only reason I bumped it down to 4 stars instead of 5, is the price. For what we paid per person, we could have gone to the French Laundry.....and it wasn't nearly that... More

Description
Altura restaurant applies the focus of ingredient-driven Italian cooking to the natural bounty of the Pacific Northwest. Our chefs work tirelessly each day to highlight the most exciting seasonal products.
Chef Nathan Lockwood's tasting menu is at the heart of the Altura approach to dining. With a focus on wild foraged products, pristine Puget Sound seafood and locally raised heirloom meats and vegetables, our tasting menu exemplifies who we are. Expect to spend between two and three hours enjoying ten to fifteen courses of our most inspired dishes.
For a less structured approach, diners are welcome to design their own experience by choosing three or more courses from our traditional menu. Our team of Sommeliers is always on hand to design a unique flight of paired wines or help you find the perfect bottle to highlight your experience.
We invite you to join us on Capitol Hill to celebrate seasonal cuisine, exceptional wine and gracious service.
