To say the chili is greasy is an understatement. It was literally running over the edge of the bowl. My bowl was about 1 5th grease. So a 12 ounce bowl is more then 2 ounces of grease. Disgusting. If you claim to be a...More

It’s been 40 years since I’ve had Springfield chili (The Den), and the Chili Parlor lived up to my expectations! Some folks may not like this style of greasy chili, but if you do, make it a point to stop in!

Got the medium chili and a soda. After I had to get out of line and go to the atm that is. The chili itself was ok at best. It felt like the only ingredients were meat (lots of it), beans (light), and grease. I...More

Good afternoon, I am sorry that you did not have a good experience. Our chili is not your “normal” chili. Our chili comes in various spice levels, which our most popular is the medium with a touch. I do apologize if our staff Didn’t explain...More

Chili parlor chili is its own thing. This is probably not what you make at home, nor what you buy in a can. They have several levels of heat. The basic chili is in one pot, and the heat is in another. How much of...More

I got a small bowl of mild chili. With the oyster crackers it was quite bland. Should probably add some cheese or go for the medium. Staff was friendly and it was not very busy Tuesday afternoon about 2:00 pmMore

Tonya, I am sorry the chili was not to your liking. It is true that if you like any spice, the mild would be bland to you. If you ever return, May I suggest you order a medium with a touch. Ask for Roy or...More

My wife saw that they had been recognized as the best chili in Illinois. So since I was in town for the day, I had to try it. It was amazing. Best chili! I had the “touch” chili that had a touch of heat. I...More

Cash only. This is a great place for tourists and locals. Extremely friendly staff, super quick service, and chili that is unique to this part of the world. Order it "with a touch."

Stopped by with friends on bike ride. All kinds of chili. Medium is pretty hot. Try the firebrand. Fiery hot.

We loved this little Route 66 stop. I love chili and was pleasantly surprised by their chili. They have many heat levels and they add what you want in your chili when you order it which is nice. If you each a large bowl of...More
