We were the only ones sitting down for dinner in the huge restaurant which overlooks the harbour. The owner was friendly and chatty, telling us he was once a sailor in the boat that is pictured on the placemats! We both had fish soup to start (every restaurant seems to do their own excellent version of this) and fresh fish... More

The service was very good at this restaurant which is perched above the harbor. It has a lot of seatind. The menu is limited, and like all of Iceland, pretty high priced. But the food was good (fish stew) and the service was very friendly. Even though english was definitely a second language for them, they were very attentive and... More

If you're heading over to Vik, and you have the time, take a detour south and pass through Grindavik. It's a great drive and Bruin's is the perfect stop for a fabulous lobster bisque lunch! Don't be misled by the simple cafeteria style interior; this is good food. We got a very pleasant history lesson from the owner, a former... More

My husband and I visited on our way to the blue lagoon (it's about 15 minutes beyond the blue lagoon turn off). We stopped for cake and coffee and it was delicious! I had the carrot cake and my husband had the apple and caramel cake. Both were really lovely. The owner (I think) couldn't have been more friendly and... More

Very much enjoyed our lunch at Bruin. After a morning hike up the nearby volcano, we were starving! We found Bruin and were welcomed in. The owner poured me a cup of coffee, and another, and another... and then I enjoyed an excellent fish stew. Tasty, relaxed, and not at all expensive. Thank you!

My husband and I stumbled into this restaurant on our first day to Iceland. It was pouring rain sideways and Bruin had its Welcome sign lit. We didn't know what to expect, but ended up enjoying heavenly seafood dishes. The owners were friendly and the cafe was quiet, and we hunkered down for a couple of hours with free wi-fi.... More

When you are in a fishing village, you want to try the catch of the day. The fish menu at the Bruin fulfills all requirements. Fresh, correct cooking, fried on pan or deepfried and good portions.

Simple restaurant overlooking the harbor. The fish (plaice) was very fresh and sautéed-very good. The fish stew was unexpected. I imagined fish in a broth but it was more a mash of fish and potatoes. Ok but not near as good as the simple fish preparation.
