A cafe in a hotel in a renovated firehouse? That's three degrees of separation; one is understandably wary that such a visually pleasing Disney-like conversion will also include, less happily, amusement-park-like food. Fortunately, not so. The meal, food, service were all top notch - until the bill arrived. I indulgently ordered an espresso, only to see that it cost FIVE dollars! That's right. A single shot of a brew not more concentrated than regular drip java, just served in a fancy Bodum, double-walled cup. Really?!

Love the atmosphere so nicely decorated with all things Americana as well as firehouse; Lots of pictures of Dalmatians, great antique firetrucks, busts of early American patriots; fireplaced lobby; lovely old dark wood bar

This is a lovely small cafe attached to the Kendall Hotel. The menu is not huge, but they have some really good dishes. I would have liked to see more for the vegetarian that is NOT pasta, but both times I had pasta it was really good. Very nice wine list and a nice selection of desserts. It was very... More

Food and service at The Black Sheep are always phenomenal. As an MIT employee I often stop by for lunch with colleagues and we're always pleased with the service and dining options. The patio is wonderful in the warmer months and the dining room is cozy, warm, and welcoming during the cooler months. In addition to normal dining I have... More

This most delightful Open Table restaurant in an old fire station, now the cozy, beautiful boutique Kendal Hotel, is wonderful: food, service, staff, ambience perfect! It's juxtaposition next to a huge Google mega-building adds to the quaintness of this dining treasure! The grilled salmon served with green beans and topped with microgreens was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Take time to explore the... More

Lovely atmosphere with indoor or outdoor seating. Great staff and food. Reasonable pricing considering the city. Located in The Kendall hotel, historic quaint brick place in heart of Kendall Square.
