Recently I was at an event in Cambridge that had Sweet Lydia's making S'mores on demand using their own handmade marshmallows. Delicious! While at Lowell winterfest, walking around we found the real homebase of Sweet Lydia's. It's in a storefront up a few stairs. I'm not sure how it works if you can't do stairs though. They have a small... More

Sweet Lydias is the place to go for all things sweet. Lydia herself makes such incredible homemade candies, marshmallows, caramels, bark and the list goes on. Even homemade candy bars are part of the menu and they are incredibly amazing. The fudgy marshmallow is my favorite by far and the captain crunch clusters are to die for. There is nothing... More

Lowell has been experiencing a revitalization and its in part thanks to great local businesses like Sweet Lydia's. When I went I bought a cookie dough sandwich and a peppermint patty. They were both freshly made and the clerk was very insightful on how the sweets were made.

Sweet Lydia's is an old fashioned candy shop with homemade treats, featuring smores, but many others to choose from. It is on the main street in historic Lowell MA, and half floor up from street level. Stop by to see what is on display, and pick out what you want, or buy a pre-packaged box.

You have to try their SMores. I've had several flavors, peanut butter and the raspberry are the best. Not only do they have a shop with fresh candy in downtown Lowell but they go to several local farmers markets where you can buy the Smores. Once you eat them you will go back for more.

I can never go in the place without wanting (and usually pretty close to buying) one of everything! Any occasion or non-occasion, including a wednesday night stuffing your face just because. Chocolate covered pretzles and the capt'n crunch clusters are probably my favorite. Caramels with sea salt are so gooey and perfect caramels. Love everything about this small business!
