Large selection of German food and beer. I had the sauerbraten and it was excellent. The sauerkraut outstanding too. Don't expect a German staff though, that took ethnic feel out of it.

Seated immediately on a early Sunday night. White tablecloths, wasn't expecting that. Had two good meals with beef as the main course. Plenty to choose from that was traditionally German. Food came out fast, was only on the warm side, I like my food hot. French fries were amazing. Had the German chocolate cake for dessert. Definitely for chocolate lovers.... More

Stopped after dinner next door - enjoyed great drinks and a giant pretzel (with lots of toppings). Fun atmosphere and nice wait staff.

I'm going to apologize in advance for the rambling nature of this, but there's a lot of points to cover. On a positive note, the place is simply lovely, with a outdoor terrace, a open air bar, and a nicely configured dining room area with a indoor bar. It makes for the sort of place where you can sit back... More

My wife and I visited Der Biegarten because of the blurb in the Where magazine sounded tasty and we both like German food and beer. The result was a mixed bag. The second floor location does not have an elevator directly; you have to go 300 feet south to an elevator seriving the rest of the building and guess what... More

This restaurant is NOT for the Public. It is for Private Parties only. I saw this restaurant some 5 years ago when I was in Atlanta, and I wanted to try it out. Finally, I got the chance to do so today, when I was back in Atlanta. After my meeting, I drove INTO town (when my needed direction was... More

Wow! This was a treat. At first, I was a bit skeptical...thinking..German food in Atlanta? And...thinking too, that being near the convention center, this was maybe not a super-great idea...but... Really authentic and delicious German food! Great selection of draft beet, too. I chose the WEIHENSTEPHAN, HEFEWEIZEN, and it was served cold and delicious. Very citrus-y. I was concerned that... This is a great place if you like great beer (Bud light drinkers may not be as impressed:) The selection is outstanding and even though they are typically out of one of our choices they always have an excellent alternative The food is also top notch and authentic. The outside area is great but you can get a similar experience... More

Fun place to get a beer and a bite to eat. We got a draft beer and a appetizer. Bar staff was extremely friendly and made us feel at home. Didn't get dinner but was an option for others.

Opening just in time for Oktoberfest 2010, Der Biergarten gives Atlanta residents and visitors a true taste of German culture. Located Downtown within the Luckie Marietta District, Der Biergarten fills a citywide void of beer gardens and authentic German fare while providing world-class service in a festive, traditional atmosphere. Co-owner Wolfgang Hartert, a local resident and native of Germany, provided much of the inspiration for Der Biergarten. As he says, “Atlanta needs a restaurant like Der Biergarten. The significant German population and business community in Atlanta is begging for an authentic dining experience. I know that Der Biergarten will provide Europeans, just like me, a place to share the rich heritage of Germany with American friends.” Der Biergarten is made up of an elegant white tablecloth dining room, an alley with Fussball and table shuffleboard, and, of course, the indoor/outdoor beer garden. With traditional family style seating -a la Munich- and multiple flat-screen TVs, the beer garden is the best place for watching European or American football! Enjoy our authentic German cuisine while being surrounded by Bavarian décor, such as the hand-painted trompe l'oeil ("illusionistic") murals by Alexi Torres Alonso and a German-manufactured model-railroad that circles the restaurant.
