Very busy but they brought table outside so we could inside rather than inside. Not great for vegetarians but they have salads and trout (just ask to leave ham off the trout). I had a local Alpujarren dish but asked them to leave the black pudding off and they gave me extra ham. The pork in garlic was huge and... More

A drive into the Alpurraras would not be the same without a visit to Meson Joaquín. The hams hanging from the ceiling the log fire and the beautifully tiled walls all add to the experience. We have been on at least six occasions and the food has always been outstanding. On our most recent visit we shared a plate of... More

We had lunch in Meson Joaquin during our trip through the Alpujarras. A very friendly woman welcomed us to our table and was very helpful in picking the right dishes from the menu. Starters were great (iberico ham, chorizo, garlic soup & croquetas de jamon) and also the mains were very very good (rabbit with garlic, tenderloin steak, chicken with... More

A-1! Comes with fabas /c jamon, great stoved potatoes. Good service. Plain-decor restaurant/bar -- apart from those 1000 hams hanging up inside :)

We have stopped here on a number of previous visits to Trevelez and normally have a selection of the various cold meats which are the speciality of the area. Often we have been the only diners. However, on this occasion every table outside, inside and even upstairs were taken - perhaps post new year day celebrations! However, the owner and... More

If you are a lover of jamon and you happen to find yourself driving around the Alpujaras a spot of lunch in Trevelez can be mighty tempting. The lure of Trevelez is the fact that it is the producer of the best serrano jamon in Spain. It is lightly salted here because the high altitude mountain air cures the jamon... More

Seating by the road and poor vino de casa, at least the rose wine. We had som platters of cured ham, wine and beer. The iberico ham was the best. The beer tasted nothing.

We ordered braised Kid and grilled Rabbit, which are delicious. The mixed meat platter gave us a good idea of local hams. The service is exactly what you expect. Warm and friendly.

We make a point of visiting Trevelez and dining at Meson Joaquin whenever we are in Las Alpujarras. I know you can get olives, bread, ham, chorizo and cheese anywhere but not like this. The ham and chorizo are simply the best I have ever tasted. My wife loves the olives too! Very friendly staff and quick service. If you... More
