My fiancé and I are here last Friday night at the last minute. The space is lovely and our table by the window was nice. Some of the dishes were excellent and others disappointing. All were tiny. My fiancée's soup consisted of three tablespoons of liquid. The butternut squash macaroon with foie gras filling was great. Goat cheese ravioli was... More

We had been to Volt a few times and really liked it. We went for Valentine's after reserving one month out. We ordered the wine pairing with the meal. Things began well and then the wheels kind of fell off. The food would come but without the wine. As the courses progressed I think they were running out of the... More

This is not a place to eat if you have an appetite, rather a laboratory/museum to taste and see experimental food. I think I prefer to see it on the Food network than pay $$$$ to be disatisfied with it in real life.

So while everything about Volt is great, they should be judged on a much tougher scale. Their food is beautiful. Staff needs to be a little more and seem less uptight. I've been there over 20 times and only now do they seem to recognize me. Don't go if you are too hungry. All that said, the bar scene is... More

So, I have been here three times before and frankly you kind of know what you are getting, a few really nice and somewhat unique dishes, some that are nothing to write home about, all dishes are small and some simply don't rate well. We had a dinner appointment for Kinship, in DC and since the weather turned on us... More

As my TA handle indicates, I am indeed a Culinary Snob. Having been in the food industry 30+ years, I am an avowed "foodie". My wife and I entered Volt with high expectations, and were woefully underwhelmed. We did the 15 course chef's counter experience, and split a wine pairing. That's $150 each for the food, and +$75 for the... More

The chefs truly prepare creative, unique selections; some I really enjoyed and some were just a little bit to over the top for my taste. Having been a few times over the past couple years, I have walked out each time with mixed feelings. The service tends to be a bit pretentious, which actually surprises and disappoints me each time.... More

We ate here last week. Overall, an enjoyable meal. Beautiful surround. Expert service. Our waitress was very keen to make sure we were pleased. Dinner for four (the twelve course tasting menu plus a 150 bottle of wine) was about 750.00, and so we should be pleased. Let's start with the positives: at times there was excellence. The tempura shrimp,... More

This is by far one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. Service is superior, food is well prepared and presented beautifully and staff is wonderful. You will not be sorry

The ambiance is very pleasing and subdued but upscale, the noise level is very subdued, patrons can speak to one another in conversational tones. The service was excellent and very attentive and the staff is first class. This is what is now called a small plate dining experience, you need to order at least from four different sections of the... More

Description
VOLT offers guests a menu of modern American cuisine. The focus of our cuisine is based on classic flavor combinations, creating sophisticated dishes that emphasize purity and seasonal flavors that are based on fundamental and innovative cooking techniques. VOLT's relationship with local artisan farmers ensures availability of products to fulfill the philosophy behind the menu, in a refined, historic venue where classic meets modern. By design, the restaurant follows along the original footprint of the mansions first floor parlors. Both the 38 seat main dining room and the bar/lounge open off the foyer. The original mosaic tile in the foyer was the inspiration behind the warm monochromatic color palette that adorns the finishes in VOLT. Private dining can be hosted in the conservatory offering views of the expansive courtyard. The 700 square foot kitchen afforded space to include up to 20 guests.
