Very safe place to enjoy good value fresh meals and drinks

we have had dinner here 3 times whilst staying at Cromer country club. They certainly have done everything to make you safe from temperature checks and hand saniter for all people entering, prebookings essential, very spaced out tables, face masks for all diners and staff and tables and chairs thoroughly cleaned after use. The food was freshly cooked with a good choice of menu and value for money prices. I would recommend asking for extra curry saucy with the katsu chicken curry as it was quite dry but apart from that it was excellent especially the fish and chips.

Wonderful meal for our family gathering of 22 people

We had a fantastic family meal to celebrate my son-in-law’s birthday at the restaurant and we had an amazing night. The restaurant staff were excellent and worked efficiently and pleasantly while our party, ranging in age from 2 to 73, relaxed and had a great meal. The atmosphere was really good and, being December, the restaurant looked so pretty with the Christmas decorations and the tree. Many chose the Christmas menu but alternatives were also chosen from the restaurant menu, and the meals were hearty. One of the family members is a vegetarian and enjoyed her meal very much. The staff were friendly towards the children, and very attentive to the needs of my grandson who has a severe dairy allergy. All in all, a great success.

Excellent Food, Excellent Service.

We stayed at Cromer Country Club and this bar and restaurant is on site at the Club. It is used by vacationing guests staying at the Club, vacationing guests staying nearby and by local residents. We have eatefn either at the Bar and Restaurant or by using their take away service 5 out of 6 nights. I meant to take photos of each meal but they looked and smelled so delicious I just dived it. Their menu and specials choices are varied and very reasonably priced. Their takeaway meny is taken from their on-site menu, although all items are not available as a take away, but most are. The staff are welcoming and friendly. Louise makes a lot of the homemade cakes which are available on the specials board most nights. The restaurant is very clean in the current pandemic, with both tables and seats being cleaned between guests and a one-way entrance and one-way exit. I finally remembered to take a photo of our Friday night dinner, fish & chips but a more accurate description might be whale and chips. The portions are very generous and must nights at least one of us has not been able to finish our meal. Fabulous food and service. A*

Not a pleasant experience

Completely over the top precautions about Covid. Despite temp checks, masks must be worn until your food is pretty much on your fork. By far the most unpleasant part of the visit were the hissy fits from Bryan (“it clearly says Byron on my name badge”) the waiter. 3 minutes after sitting down when asked if we were ready to order, we informed him that we might be a little while yet, but could we order some drinks? Cue a very dramatic eye roll and a sigh. This carried on all evening until a nice young man took over our table for the deserts (No idea where Bryan/Byron had disapprovingly sashayed off to). Not a pleasant experience, but food ok.

Lovely food and friendly staff

We visited the restaurant as we were staying at the resort and it was convenient for our first night. We really enjoyed the food, it was hot, tasty, well prepared and served by really attentive staff who were well versed in all of the Covid requirements. I particularly liked the fact that smaller portions of some of the selections were available prevents a lot of food waste. Thoroughly nice meal and restaurant.

We ate here on a wet night in August. Due to the weather we drove to the site where there is ample parking. The restaurant is located in the Country Club about 20 minutes walk out of Cromer. We were shown to our table on arrival and were impressed at the spacing from other tables and the clear evidence of sensible precautions to ensure social distancing and infection control. The measures were not at all over the top or intrusive and our party found them reassuring. The food was excellent and the childrens menu was appreciated by the younger members of our party. Steaks were superb and drinks were reasonably priced. We had a baby with us and a clean high chair was provided and staff went out of their way to accommodate the children in the party. All in all an excellent night out despite the bad weather and a venue we would definitely recommend.

Excellent food and service

We stayed at Cromer Country club for 2 nights and ate at the Amber restaurant on both nights as we were so impressed after our first visit. Food is tasty, portions are large and service is exemplary making this excellent value for money. There was also the added benefit of only needing to walk a short walk back to our apartment at the end of the meal. Well done to all involved.

CONSISTENTLY DELIVERS HIGH STANDARD FOOD, DRINKS & SERVICE!

The title of the review says it all for us! The choice of dishes on the menu is varied & very much to our tastes. The quality of the meals time & time again is of the highest standard & of generous portions. You really to get the feeling that those in the kitchen really do care about the state of the dishes on leaving the kitchen. In the past we had always opted for the home made lasagne but on our most recent 5 visits we decided to be more adventurous and opt for other dishes on the menu, such as chicken burger, jalfrezi, steak, mushroom & ale pie, all were delicious. This has now given us a major headache for future visits - what dish do we choose???? Unlike some other establishments, now after many visits to the Amber bar we have never had a bad pint of Carling, ie. with a good head maintained all the way down to the empty glass. I believe this is due to a strict regime of glass rejuvenation and when necessary glass replacement. In addition to good quality food & drink the front of house staff are brilliant. Friendly but professional at all times, thanks for making our visits so very much enjoyable, looking forward to our next visits.

Best Restaurant in Cromer

The best restaurant in Cromer. We stayed at the Cromer Country Club and ate here twice. The staff were friendly and the food delicious. I had the deep fried Brie to start which was very good, followed by linguine with crab and prawns, while my husband enjoyed crab fishcakes and a wonderful steak pie. On our second visit neither of us could resist the garlic mushrooms and crab salad. We only wished we had room for something from the desert menu - bread and butter pudding sounded good but we were too full up! We were really surprised this restaurant wasn’t busier as we found Cromer has numerous cafes and fish and chip shops, but very few good restaurants.

Relaxed Sunday lunch.

We visited the Amber bar & restaurant at the Cromer Country Club today. We arrived at 2pm for Sunday lunch and were warmly greeted and shown straight away to our table. Drinks were soon ordered and menus studied, We ordered three roast beef dinners and one roast pork, each one was delicious. The waiting staff were lovely, very friendly, polite and efficient. The restaurant is modern and comfortable which made it a very enjoyable experience will definitely like to return. After lunch we walked up to see the lighthouse and enjoy the surrounding views.

Staff behaviour and incorrect meals

It was my 70th birthday and the atmosphere was unfriendly. The waitress was very impatient and sharp. She made me feel as if I was a nuisance. We had pre ordered meals as requested and the starters were very nice. When my main course arrived it was all cooked well but not what I ordered. On the plate were chicken, chips and boiled potatoes, broccoli, carrots and I think cauliflower with gravy. The problem was I had ordered just Hunters chicken and chips with the side salad. The staff were so busy and distant that I decided to deal with this myself by tipping the side salad (which consisted of 95% bay leaves with very little else) onto the top of the chips and scraping the potatoes and vegetables into the the now empty salad bowl. The result was just edible but not at all appetising, the chicken was plain and the leaves were not good in the gravy. When it got to the sweet the crumble and custard were served in very tiny desperate pots that the spoon provided would not even fit into. I am still feeling disappointed as I don't get another crack at a 70th birthday meal.

Very tasty food. Well worth a visit.

Lovely, tasty, enjoyable dinner. The best meal we had during our stay in nearby Overstrand. We both had prawn cocktail for starters which was fresh and delicious, followed by scampi for my partner and I chose the steak and mushroom in ale pie. My request for new potatoes and vegetables instead of chips or mashed potato was accommodated without issue. Both meals were generous, extremely well presented and couldn’t be faulted. Although I didn’t have the chips, they looked delicious. We were both very happy with our meals. Unfortunately neither of us had any room for a desert but I’m sure they would have been of equal quality to the starters and mains. The staff were very friendly and efficient, and there was hardly any waiting between courses. Although we visited on a Thursday evening, there was a constant stream of diners and booking in advance is a must. I would definitely recommend eating at the Amber Bar and Restaurant if you are near to Cromer, and will definitely visit again when we are in the area.

I’d like to thank the staff of the amber restaurants for all of the safety measures that they have put in place, their professionalism as well as still remaining happy and friendly in these difficult times. On top of that we have had a fantastic meal the steak and mushroom pie was huge with lots of steaming veg and creamy mash. We probably should’ve skipped the starter, which was also huge and very tasty I’m stuffed!!! Highly recommend

Wanted to find a nice place for my birthday meal, as a table of 7. This proved a bit tricky on a Sunday evening in this area, a lot of places don't serve food at night. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor I decided on Amber restaurant, and wow, so glad I did. From first stepping in the door and being greeted by the lovely Richard(?), to the absolutely fantastic and delicious meal we were all super impressed. 3 of us had the roast and it was probably the best I've had in a restaurant for many many years. Everyone elses meals looked delicious, chicken burger, linguine, even kids spag bol!! We were too full for dessert unfortunately as they looked amazing too. The staff kindly brought out a birthday cake that my family had brought, and everyone sang me happy birthday. Such a shame we live 2 hours away as this would definitely be our go to place to eat. Well done to all the waiting and kitchen staff, top marks!! Next time we're in the area we will definitely be back.

Good food and Friendly staff!

Would suggest booking as it was busy. But service was good and staff friendly. Good size portions( starters would be a meal for me) nicely cooked and served relatively quickly considering we were a family of 4 adults and 3 children.The restaurant is a large open room which is nicely decorated and plenty of room between tables. We asked for tap water and were given lovely cold water in a large bottle. We thought everything was reasonably priced and good value. Would definitely visit again.
