Outstanding service as a party of 8. Food served up at the same time by 3 accommodating serving staff. Excellent house wines recommend the red and the white. Food cooked to our personal preferences and although one of our party was a little disappointed immediate...rectification and an offer with a gesture of goodwill large glass of wine of his choice. Such excellent and outstanding first class service that we have no hesitation in returning and have confidence in recommending others.More
One of the best restaurants in the area. You can always rely on getting tasty food and good service.
We've visited on a number of occasions and never had reason to fault the food, service or setting. When we have had any minor issues the...staff have always dealt with them quickly and professionally. But we've never had bad food or bad service. It doesn't matter how busy they are the staff are always professional and polite.
On one occasion we chose this restaurant for our sons 3rd birthday. We were a table of nearly 15. They were extremely accommodating and helped look after a cake we brought with us before bringing it out for us after doing the candles and playing birthday music for our son.
Our last visit was this weekend, a last minute booking. We arrived 10 minutes later. They were very busy outside but they still managed to seat us and serve us brilliantly as usual with no issues or delays.More
A Wedding anniversary meal. Unfortunately me and the wife have not had the opportunity to get out much recently so for our anniversary meal, where to go to be guaranteed a good meal and service... Pircio, Bishops Stortford.
However, this was not to be the...case and I feel things have changed here.
The customer service was as always excellent but the food was a let down. I ordered the Lingini fruits de mare which, once ordered, was on our table within 10 minutes. An imediate panic as to, has this been cooked fresh? Can you really prep and cook a sea food linguine so quickly considering the prep required and serving all the other tables which there was a few. First bite was good flavours but the muscles were chilled, not cold, chilled. It was becoming clear that there was no real passion put into this meal. Our server was excellent, apologised and said they will have a fresh one made. This was out well within 5 minutes. So it's clear this isn't freshly made.
To add insult to I jury I was charged extra for adding chilli to the meal.
I hope the management can read this as constructive criticism and make sure all their dishes are prepaired with love, passion and properly fresh in the future.More
This is definetely my favourite place in Bishops. I love the cocktails, food and atmosphere like no other. I would definetley recomend this place specially summer coming and they have big spacious garden.
This is such a shame that a previously good restaurant is now so shockingly bad. We went today for my Son’s 11th birthday meal. All family and have visited before - many months ago. Mixture of adults and children. All was going fine, service pretty...inattentive and had to wave every-time to get a waiters attention, despite the fact they walked past us every few seconds. Ordered started and mains. Usual menu, nothing has changed menu wise in all the years we have been going - food was okay, nothing special, but something for everyone. Quality wise it has certainly not what it was. In the middle of my meal I called over the waiter to hand back my main course, it had a long hair in the salad. Totally put off I didn’t ask for a new one. No apology, just a shrug of the shoulders from the waiter. Note - nobody in the kitchen wears a hair covering. When the bill came I asked if my meal had been taken off the bill. The waitress, tried to help but the manager refused to take it off the bill. I asked to speak to the manager, he came over and told me that nobody in the kitchen has long blonde hair, despite is waiter picking it out the salad!! So it wasn’t them. Accusing me of planting a hair in the salad! I asked him if he was accusing me of planting a hair in the salad, which he then said “I’ve talked to the manager and you do this all the time” for the record - the last time I went there was over a year ago! Left pretty satisfied back then. He wouldn’t remove it from the bill. Accusing me again and again of being a serial “planter” of hair in food! Then another waiter came over to take photos of me, no idea why, then lied and denied he did it. Bear in mind I have my kids with me. The manager was the most unprofessional manager I’ve ever witnessed, he has no idea how to run a restaurant and I can see now why the place was half empty. I said to him I’ll happily pay for the dish with the hair in it to avoid any drama, but to take off the ridiculous service charge - service here is genuinely appalling and food not good enough, much better options at The Boars Head and other places in Stortford. As we left the rest of the waiters were equally trying to suggest that I had planned a hair in one of the meals - despite paying over £600 for the rest of the meal!! I mean seriously. A Geordie girl tried to tell me I wasn’t right and they weren’t right either - err then who was? Who taught these people the basics of guest satisfaction!!
It was my sons 11th birthday, the manger completely ruined it and all he had to do was apologise. Seemingly old fashioned hospitality and caring for guests who pay their wages isn’t something this manager and restaurant give two hoots about. Unfortunately for them Stortford is a small town and I’m pretty sure after I’ve shared this review with as many people in my various networks it will make people think twice about eating there. Genuinely I’d avoid being ripped off in this place, it used to be okay, now it’s shocking and the manager is terrible! Will never return and I’d strongly urge you to think twice about it also.
1 star - only because you have to!!More
The food in this restaurant was abysmal. I had a starter of tomatoes and mozzarella. Firstly the tomatoes were hard and tasteless. This dish needed a dressing and fresh herbs to lift it. It also required seasoning. My main course was pizza. Well I’ve never...had such a disappointing pizza in. my. life. It was cold It was undercooked. The cheese was congealed. I didn’t complain because I was with friends out for a belated birthday meal and it doesn’t do to create a scene and embarrass the table. One of the party had chicken and spaghetti Again another barely warm dish. Maybe we had the pot washer on cook duty tonight but I shall definitely not return. Unbelievably bad.More
I found this restaurant to be very expensive for the quality of the food. My starter should have had fresh basil but was sprinkled with dried instead which made it less enjoyable. My main (salmon and spinach tagliatelle) lacked any flavour apart from the salmon...which was fine. There was far too much of the pasta and it was very bland.
I would not return as I felt the meal was only adequate and was too pricey.More
I enjoyed my first visit here recently. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff are very attentive.
The food was of high quality and we enjoyed it very much. It is a bit on the expensive side so not somewhere I would go very...often but nice as a treat.More
