Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was with my parents who both ordered fish and chips with cider. I ordered the triple burger and chips with a refillable coffee. I ordered mine separately from my parents and before they ordered. My coffee cup was immediately brought to me so they...definitely received my order, which I had email notification of. My parents meals came within an appropriate time. No sign of my meal. We asked about it and were told they'd check on it. That person said it should be out soon. It was not. The next person we asked, never even came back to update us. We asked someone who seemed to be a manager or shift leader. She went to check on it and said it should arrive soon. By this point my parents had both finished and over half an hour had passed since I ordered. More time passed, at least 10 minutes. Still no food. I went to the bar and spoke to the shift leader/manager. I made it clear I was unhappy, that the people with me had their food, had finished and how long I'd been waiting. I said I would be asking for a refund if I didn't have it soon. She asked if I still wanted it and I said yes as I was very hungry by this point. She went to check with the kitchen. She came to the table and said there was a mix up with the burger. No clarification on what exactly. I did have my food shortly after. But it was at least 45 minutes after I ordered it! It was not busy so this was ridiculous! In summary, the food was decent, the pub itself was nice but service, wait times and communication from staff and their ability to resolve problems are very poor. Whenever I am in Penarth next, I will choose somewhere else to eat. I advise others to do the same.More

Went in The Bears Head while passing through Penarth and we needed a spot of lunch. It was time for a break and as ever, Wetherspoons was the choice for a cheap meal and a drinky. We had a couple of curries, a chicken tikka...and a beef madras. They were both acceptable enough though the poppadoms were swimming in grease. The actual curries were very tasty considering how little we paid and we did enjoy the meal. The pub itself was nice enough and the staff were helpful and cheerful. Off we went on our travels, fed and watered and happy with the visit.More

Ordered a freedom breakfast which on previous occasions has been nicely cooked and enjoyable. On this occasion however the food was Luke warm with overcooked eggs , undercooked bacon and beans that had more of a resemblance to porridge. Overall very poor on this occasion

This was my first visit to Wetherspoons, service good. Ordered a classic meal/drink combo. When it came, after 20 minutes, told them cold so they took it away. I awaited around another 20 minutes, assuming would get a fresh and hit meal - the same...piece of fish and chips was brought back to me:(. This time the plate was hot but the now very stale fish and chips were again lukewarm. Very disappointed. Nobody checked if meal was ok as they should do. Would sadly not visit again.More

Went there for a mixed grill and what we got was a plate of the thinnest gammon, steak(if you could call it that), chicken, pork loin(i think) that i have ever seen. I have been to roadside cafes that produce a far better meal for...far less, This is a company that just does not care anymore. I used to go there quite often but had been away for some time, If anyone asks me now i would say stay the hell away from any wetherspoons when it comes to food. The drink that came with it (we had lemonade) tasted like the river taff but fizzy). This is no complaint about the staff it is the exceedingly poor quality of the food.More

Great little Spoons, friendly staff and good vibe to the place. My only gripe with the place and reason for writing this is that I wish staff would clear tables quicker, and pick litter off the floor. Last 3 times we’ve been in we’ve had...to clear our own table and get cloth to wipe it down. As I say it’s a great place and great staff just needs some attention to what people see when they first walk in.More

Popped in for an early morning breakfast (8.30) as I( was passing, good call. I wasn't the only customer at that time. Had the large breakfast which was as I expected. Clean environment, would definitely frequent next time I'm passing.

Upon walking in to the pub I waited for a couple of minutes at the bar. Only one other customer was being served while four staff members were either chatting or putting glasses back on the shelves. I asked if they were still serving and...was met with a surly response and then after huffing and puffing I was served. That was the worst service I've ever had in a Wetherspoons. The person who served me was pleasant but I was definitely, deliberately kept waiting. I felt quite humiliatedMore

Had a great time here, having frequented many a spoons. I'd have to say, this one is the top. I chatted the the staff at the bar, I bought something different to the usual and enjoyed it, had a curry - it was Thursday so...it would be rude not to. The team were fantastic and made me feel like I was just relaxing in the lounge (minus my sofa). Tip top all around. Thanks to Nick and the team. See you in 3 weeks when I'm back in the area.More

For the price you are paying there can not be any complaints, £1.49 for a pint is ridiculously cheap you can take a 5 minute walk and find your self paying quadruple the price somewhere else. There really cannot be any complaints. For the price...you are paying everything is amazing value for money. It's also good to know that there staff get paid well especially when you compare to other local restaurants/bars.More
