Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My experience at Foxy’s was poor to say at the least. Unfortunately, I will not be returning after lunch with my friends turned into total shambles. The food was presented lovely. However, the food was cold upon arrival, the customer service was poor and the...overall cleanliness of this place was poor (sticky grimy tables, employees not washing their hands) the menu selection was a positive, and had a range of products to offer. Looking at similar reviews, it is apparent that there have been excuses made for wrong doings which I believe is unprofessional and should be acted upon.More

Good quality, good choice, good value, friendly staff. What's not to like? Bacon, egg, tomatoes, avacado on sour dough was delicious, as was the breakfast omelette. Caters for non-gluten.

Lovely little deli/cafe in Penarth. We called in for a breakfast and did a small 'create your own' where you can have 4 items for £5.95. They had a few different items like Glamorgan sausage and tasty little fritters. All the staff were lovely and...service was very good. We would definitely have this as a regular haunt if we lived local.More

I visited today for a late lunch with my friend who lives in Penarth. We both had a delicious meal accompanied by a lovely bottle of wine. I had the feta and spinach dish with pea and mint fritters and my friend the burger from...the specials board. We scoffed the lot! Clean plates all round. The service from the owner was lovely as always along with her staff. We'll be back soon. Thanks again xMore

Dreadful service. First i was overcharged by £22.50. Told there was a wait of20-25 minutes. 45 minutes later after chasing food arrived and our order was wrong. Told it was manic today. If they can’t cope with the covers in the restaurant they should not...take the orders. Wont be going there again. With 3 young children 45 minutes is a lifetimeMore

The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. The quality was good but the toast needs improving, it was also served in this grubby little bamboo bowl that was chipped and cracked and seen better days. The staff were friendly and efficient, but the restaurant...area looked dirty and not very inviting. I would not rush to return.More

I was born and brought up in Penarth many decades ago and have been a regular visitor to the town for fifty years. Why has it taken me so long to find Foxy's? It is brilliant! In extraordinary contrast to Robynswanepoe88's experience, my family and...I had lunch there a few weeks ago and we all absolutely loved it - from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. The atmosphere was as warm and friendly as you would expect in South Wales and the food was exactly as billed and wonderfully delicious. But the standout characteristic was the service. It was brilliant - friendly, efficient and very amusing. Foxy's is a gem with exemplary staff. Highly recommended.More

My family and I came to this deli for brunch today, unfortunately we will not return. From the moment we stepped in to the moment we left, disappointment was the highlight. Upon arriving I let the male waiter know we had a reservation for 5,...he politely took us to the table and just as we were to sit, a female waiter then told us we cannot sit there, but had to sit at another, smaller table which had 1 chair short for the party size we were. Finally being allowed to sit at the original table the waiter seemed frustrated and unable to cope. After about 10 minutes the same female waiter took our drinks order. At this time we asked her about the gluten free options which she pointed out on the menu. I wasn't sure about the contamination of gluten free and have to be absolutely sure so I went to ask the waitress if the items were indeed prepared on separate surfaces and gluten free. The way in which she replied to me was extremely rude and un called for. The waitress advised that "of course, if we say it's gluten free, then it is. Coffee is gluten free, our bacon is gluten free, jam is gluten free." As this waitress went on to argue and even confront me as if my intolerance were a frustration I settled it and advised her it's ok. When returning to the table, our order was taken. My mother who is vegan, tried to order and this same waitress interrupted her 5 times, as if to try and have her order faster. Furthermore, before we had finished our order she walked away from the table. When food finally arrived, after around 50 minutes, my omelette was dripping in oil. My brothers bacon was rock solid and massively over done and my mother couldn't cut her bread. We were told when checking on the status of our food, it had got forgotten in the lift. Due to the ongoing issues we had we did not want to complain as this waitress was increasingly rude and we felt very close to walk out. Afyer deciding to stay, I ended up soaking up the oil from my omelette with a serviette! When going to pay, my mother advised the waitress of the problems but instead of apologizing she in return advised that I seemed to think I was too good for the restaurant! I could not believe it. The owners of this very quaint deli, need to make some staff changes. This is not on and not how you treat paying customers. Not only will I not return, I will not exactly recommend at all.More

I’ve been to Penarth many times, but never even heard of Foxy’s Deli until I was told I was going there for lunch the other day. My first impressions upon walking in, was of a place that was warm and welcoming, and that was borne...out by the wonderful staff, pleasant surroundings and lovely food and drink. I’ve never been a fan of pretentious places, and thank goodness, Foxy’s is anything but that. Firstly, I watched people coming and going during the hour or so I spent there, and it was as if everyone who turned up, was a genuine friend, such was the welcome they received. Secondly, the food is very good and honest fare, and they most certainly don’t scrimp on the portions. I also noticed different flavoured oils and other deli essentials that were for sale, but I didn’t have time to look at all of these, but I’ve got to pop back to Penarth in the next couple of weeks, so I’ll be paying another visit and will be dropping in to Foxy’s, firstly for a coffee and a bit to eat, but secondly to top up on some ‘kitchen essentials’.More

I always end up coming here when I go to my dentist in Penarth. The food is very high quality, I usually get the specials, and I leave very very full! I also like the ice cream they have there to take away -- the...lemon meringue one is yummy and I take it on the train to head back. It's nice that it's so close to Penarth train station, easy to get to. Also the outdoor seating is lovely - COVID safe!! I really appreciate that.More
