Sometimes you don't want to pay $35 per person for a meal that the kids are going to turn up their noses at and complain "what's this glop on my salad". Sometimes you just want a reasonable meal at a reasonable price and that's what we got at Cook Saddle. We had been stuck inside all day while seven inches... More

One of the few places in town that was near full. This is the first invite when one considers where to dine. This was the reason we decided to eat there. Service was very nice, this cannot be said about the food which was an average expensive pub food. Their special Whitebait was tasteless, another specialty that was recommended by... More

We waited for half an hour for one toasted sandwich. Staff were quite unhelpful and made a rude comment about one of our boys spilling a glass of water

We had both lunch and dinner here and both were really good. Well cooked and presented and the staff were both helpful and friendly. There are many eateries in Fox this one is one of the best.

My finance and I visited Fox Glacier in November 2014. We had afternoon drinks at the Cook & Saddle, and returned later that evening for dinner. The bar staff were extremely friendly, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Shaun was our waiter for dinner, and provided nothing short of perfect service: He was attentive, efficient, and... More

We ordered 2 toasted wraps with a side of fries, took the best part of 45 minutes. When it arrived it was lukewarm, sub standard and arrived with a bonus side of attitude. To top it all off it didn't meet with the definition of "affordable" for what it was.

Ideally located in the centre of town...it's appealing because it's quirky. You wander in and the unique setting jumps out....chunky wood tables, comfortable seating. It certainly looks great. The service is average and so is the food. The appetiser was served at the same time as the meal. It almost hits goals and yet...it's not quite there.

Nice atmosphere, casual but with a soul to it that few other places nearby do offer. We were short of milk for one of our kids and they kindly offered us some for breakfast. Diner was good, and even the kids menu did not offer the usual junk, but something original instead.
