A culinary school associated with Helms College and Goodwill. The food choices are an unexpected delight after 5 days driving and the usual boring franchises. Excellent quality ingredients used is obvious and attentive service from the students is a real joy. Edgar's is not to be missed.

Have been here many times and it is always an amazing treat. The menu changes every week so you are in for a tastebuds experience ! The students are leaning their craft and are helpful in answering questions and giving suggestions. Chef Richard was in charge yesterday and came by our table to inquire about our service and food preparation.... More

I came to Macon with school district personnel for a workshop. Edgar's catered our mid morning treats, including cookies and muffins. The blueberry muffins were terrific as were the toffee cookies. I look forward to trying the bistro soon.

Great service is provided by students learning the hospitality trade. The server took time to make her recommendations and the chef came out to make us comfortable in the restaurant. Food served in a much higher end restaurant is delivered at a bargain price. We enjoyed the spinach and artichoke bread bowl appetizer which was enough for four hungry people.... More

The hotel we were staying in listed pizza joints, McDonalds, etc among its local restaurant suggestions. But there over the Interstate on TripAdviser's map was Edgar's. What a wonderful place to eat! It's a training school, so the chefs and waiting staff are all students, working under expert supervision. It's only been open in the evenings for a short while,... More

We were the first to arrive. The door was unlocked promptly at 6 pm. Until recently, it was only open for lunch. Beautiful menu that changes seasonally. Beer and wine is available. Excellent food.

Someone on trip advisor mentioned this place and we like "locale" so we made a reservation (like those too). Friendly staff gave us directions, called us back and Chef even stopped by the table to introduce herself and tell us about the place. Affiliated with Helm university, it's a good cause place with great results. The food was excellent and... More

Traveling to Florida, we were quite surprised when we pulled up to the Bistro. We did not know it was a culinary training school affiliated with Goodwill. Dinners are new to the restaurant and the food was excellent, the prices surprisingly low. Our waiter Scott was friendly and attentive. The head chef took time out to introduce himself and visit... The seating area is small and the wait staff are Helms interns - as are the kitchen staff. Although the lunch menu is understandably limited, I saw tantalizing choices and ordered the shrimp Po' Boy while others with me ordered the salmon, chicken Alfred pasta, and Couscous salad. Thoughtfully and gently, the floor professional (teacher) explained to the table that... More
