A quick stop while driving north along the coast. Casual diner with displaying posters for an annual jazz and blues festival and plenty of surf photos. An interesting mix of traditional (loco moco), local (catch of the day) and contemporary (soy smoothies and chai tea). Attracts both locals and tourists. Moderately priced. Friendly albeit casual staff with good service. Highly... More

Since we were staying in a resort at Waikoloa, everything around that area is on the expensive side and lacking the local flavours. Saw this place while driving up the coast. It's cosy and has some interesting menu items (including various forms of loco moco!). Cheap, hearty food.

My wife has celiac disease so we are always looking for good gluten free food. We were driving back from the north shore of the big island and were looking for a place to have lunch. We stopped at a restaurant that turned out to be closed but since we were hungry decided to look in a hole in the... More

My husband and I didn't realize that so many places were closed on Tuesday when we were looking for somewhere to eat for lunch. Then, we happened upon the Aloha Deli! It's nothing fancy. The service was nice and the food was delicious. (good portions are served too) Reasonably priced dishes too!

Finished biz meetings this am and wanted something quick and easy before the beach. Definitely low key and nothing fancy but they did an excellent job on the blackened Ono sandwich with really crisp peppered fries. Also, very good mango sorbet smoothie that went perfectly with a simple but well appointed sandwich. Wait staff very friendly and very prompt service.... More

Well, most people I was standing in line behind were getting shave ice in a variety of flavored and colors. Me, I was there for the ice cream, which is Tropical Dreams made in Waimea. Try the ginger, mud pie, coffee, we'll try them all, so good. In a small cup you can get two flavors. Tucked away right before... More

The shave ice here is large--even the child's portion--and is guaranteed to produce multiple brain freezes. The fruit-flavored syrup toppings are super sweet. The ice cream is also delicious. Highly recommended after you have lunch at one of the restaurants in the same complex.

Once we discovered this quaint place we were there daily for breakfast while in Kona. The food was great and we had the sweetest waitress ever. Loved the old ambience of the place and the soothing music. Nothing fancy but great food and service. Thank you for making our trip so memorable.

Had breakfast and lunch here several times. Low key friendly unpretentious but the food rocks. Blackened Ono is awesome. Omelettes are great too. People are the nicest. Highly recommend.

Why has this received such glowing reviews? Just because of the menu prices? It is certainly quaint but has zero charm. The 3 bubble rating is for the food, which was just O.K. - and I don't want to slam them. Overall, I would give it 2 bubbles - interior uncomfortably warm and stuffy, reeked of cooking oil, food served... More
